Soil Conditions
* very nutrient poor soil
* Top soil is only 1 to 2 inches deep
* The soil is so infertile because it is so old
* After time the rain washes minerals out of the soil
Seasons
* Areas furthest from the equator can have two dry seasons
and two wet seasons
* Areas close to the equator experience no seasons at all and
rains all year
Precipitation
● About 250 centimeters of rain fall every year.
Climate/Temperature
* Very humid in rain forest because of all the rain
* The average temperature is about 77 degrees faherenheit
* It usually stays this temperature year round
* It will never drop below 64 degree faherenheit
* The rain forest is so hot because it is found near the equator
Dominant Plants
● Bengal Bamboo: a dark green, stalky, straight, undergrowth that
grows scattered or in patches. This plant does well in a moist
enviorment with alot of rain. It likes temperatures between 40 and
80 degrees fahrenheit, can grow to anywhere between 40 and 80
feet, and has a life span of 25 to 40 years.
● Coconut Tree: a tall slim tree with a light grey trunk that can grow
to be 50 to 80 feet tall and long greenish, yellow leaves that grow
to about 15 to 17 feet long. After the flowers of this tree blossom,
fruit begins to grow. One tree can bear about 50 coconuts once it
is mature which usually takes a year or so.
Dominant Wildlife
* Bengal Tiger: the color of the tiger is orange/brown and white
with black stripes, they can weigh up to 575 pounds and can
grow to 10ft long and 3ft tall, they are the biggest tigers in the
world and can be found in many regions of India, Bangladesh,
China, Siberia, and Indonesia
*Harpy Eagle: there name comes from greek mythology,5in
claws,there feet are as big as a human hand, they weigh about
18.4lbs, there wing span is about 7ft, the body length is between
36 to 40in long
Geographic Distribution
* Tropical rainforests are typically found near the equator
*Most rainforest are in south and central america, Africa,
Australia and its islands, and Asia
