Who We Are: The 355th Force Support Squadron is
responsible for providing the best quality of life programs for
the military personnel and their family members
assigned to DM AFB, Arizona. Our programs include
activities as diverse and challenging as membership clubs,
golf courses, bowling centers, family care facilities (youth,
infant, child), lodging, mortuary affairs, honor guard, dining
facilities, skills center and a variety of
outdoor recreation activities to name just a few.
What is Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) Employment:
There are two types of employment with the Department of
Defense (DoD) – appropriated fund (APF) and
nonappropriated fund (NAF). Appropriated Fund positions are
paid with monies appropriated by congress.
Nonappropriated funds are self-generated by 355 Force
Support Squadron morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR)
activities. NAF provide goods, services, facilities and
manpower for bowling centers, membership clubs, child
care programs, arts and crafts centers, retail stores, outdoor
recreation, swimming pools, lodging, school age program and
much more. One of the connections to NAF positions is with
355th Force Support Squadron, Human Resources Office
(HRO) located at Bldg 3200, room 217. Due to the breadth of
activities operated through the NAF system, there are jobs for
everyone and for every schedule. If you have little to no work
experience, NAF is great place to start. You can learn skills in
many of our entry level positions. This “first work” experience
can tell you if this is something you would like to continue on in
your life. If it is, NAF can help you through on the job training
(OJT) and with classes offered by the local Force Support
Training Department, as well as the Air Force Services Agency
in Lackland AFB, Texas. The former Air Force Director of
Services, a 3-Star General equivalent, proudly talks about
how he started out washing dishes at the club. Once you are in
the NAF system, if the position you first chose is not quite right
for you, it may be possible to transfer between
activities or internally within that facility.
NAF Career Program: The NAF Career Program offers
opportunities to work virtually anywhere in the world. NAF regular and career position benefits offer leave and holiday pay,
retirement plan, health and life insurance for employees and
family members as well. NAF also has 401(k) program.
NAFjobs.org: We are pleased to announce the launch of
www.nafjobs.org, the new global Air Force NAF
employment web site. Applicants will now use
www.nafjobs.org to search, register and apply for NAF
positions at Davis-Monthan AFB. This site will provide applicants the ability to browse and apply for NAF
positions at Force Support Squadron worldwide.

Manpower & Organization
The Manpower & Organization office manages the
manpower authorizations for the 355th Fighter Wing through
quantification, allocation, and organization of authorized
resources. Manpower assists units in understanding their
Unit Manpower Document (UMD) and how their manpower is
earned; either through an Air Force Manpower Standard or
Logistics Composite Model. In addition, authorization change
requests (ACR) and organizational change requests (OCR)
are processed through our office when a unit requires a
change to an existing authorization or a standard
organizational structure. We also perform manpower wartime
support for operational, contingency, and exercise planning
and execution, as well as participate in mobility planning and
the manpower and personnel readiness team or center.
Civilian position descriptions and overhire requests are also
coordinated and reviewed. Manpower annexes for
support agreements are analyzed for manpower impact. The
Augmentation Duty Program (ADP) to ensure Wing mission
readiness at all times is also managed by the Manpower
office. The Manpower Office also manages the IDEA/
Suggestion Program, or the Innovative Development through
Employee Awareness Program. IDEA/Suggestion is an
incentive program to reward submitters for their
approved ideas that benefit the Government by streamlining
processes or improving/increasing productivity and
efficiency. The program also recognizes individuals for
intangible benefits such as safety or IDEAs that cannot
be quantified. The Manpower & Organization Offices are
located in Bldg. 3200, Room 122.
