What is Ginkgotree?
Ginkgotree is an application integrated within your Desire2Learn (D2L) course site that offers an alternative to hard-­‐copy textbooks and visiting multiple websites to access online resources. Ginkgotree puts all of these materials in one place. It also has interactive features that allow you to view your instructor’s comments and notes as well as make your own comments and notes in the text. Why are we using Ginkgotree?
Ginkgotree has the potential to benefit you and your learning experience by:
(1) decreasing your costs by offering Ginkgotree digital content over traditional textbooks;
(2) providing access to more and richer course content than with a traditional textbook;
(3) allowing portability and access to course content offline on your laptop, tablet, or phone;
(4) focusing and expanding your learning by presenting instructor’s annotations, including comments, drawings, highlights, text notes, and more; and
(5) facilitating your studying by allowing you take notes and highlight right within the text.
How can I access Ginkgotree?
Ginkgotree can be accessed via your D2L course site. Simply log into D2L.uwm.edu and enter your course. You will find Ginkgotree as a link in the nav bar [Ginkgotree Content], a link on the [Content] page, or a link provided in D2L as indicated by your instructor. Click on this link to provide you with access to the content for your course. You will be prompted to enter your payment and billing information for use of the platform, Ginkgotree. The costs of Ginkgotree content (eText) will range from $15 and up depending on your course.
Can I access Ginkgotree on different devices?
Yes, Ginkgotree can be viewed on different devices as long as you have a reliable Internet connection. A computer is the recommended device to use when accessing digital materials.

Can I access Ginkgotree offline?
You can download and print textual materials from Ginkgotree to be viewed offline. Downloading the materials while you have access to an internet connection will allow you to save and print text-­‐based materials from Ginkgotree. You can view these materials when offline, and this will include any annotations (yours or your instructor’s) have made. Some digital content (e.g., web videos) cannot be downloaded, viewed offline, or printed. Can I print my text in order to have a hard copy?
Yes, you can print your text using the Ginkgotree print button. If you want to print annotated content, please download first and then print. Some digital content (e.g., web videos) cannot be downloaded, viewed offline, or printed. Why isn’t the instructor responding to my discussion comment? Although this option is available in Ginkgotree, it is there for you to collaborate with your peers. Unless indicated by your instructor, s/he will not be monitoring this communication channel or awarding credit for its use. Where can I find technological support for Ginkgotree?
