AT THE THOMAS COLE SITE &
FREDERIC CHURCH’S OLANA
River Crossings brings contemporary art
by world-renowned artists back to the
homes where distinctly American art was
born. Curated by artist Stephen Hannock
and art historian Jason Rosenfeld, PhD,
the exhibition provides an unprecedented
opportunity to consider these historic spaces
from a completely new vantage point—
expanding the dialogue between art of the
past and present. Our aim is to bring to
light new ideas about the meaning of the
art and history of the mid-19th century
and its continuing resonance today.
Throughout the exhibition are works by
Thomas Cole, Frederic Edwin Church,
and other 19th-century artists.
