Cell Project
Directions: In order to test your knowledge of the cell you’ll be completing a
project. It is up to you how you want to prove your understanding of the cell.
You get to choose what kind of project you want to do! Having trouble coming
up with something? Here are some ideas.
• You can create an analogy for the cell, such as the cell as a factory. If you
choose this option, make sure to include why each object represents the
organelle you chose. You should also include a picture of your analogy with
a legend labeling each part and the organelle they represent.
• You can make a rap or sing a song about the cell. If you choose this option,
make sure to submit your lyrics. You can perform your song in front of the class or as a recording.
• You can write a fictional story about the cell. Maybe a murder mystery!
• You can write a short skit. The script should be turned in along with performing the skit in front of the
class or record and submit your recording.
• Thinking of another idea? Just ask your instructor for approval before starting.
Whatever you choose to do you need to make sure to include all the organelles in an animal cell along with
their functions. Also, how the organelles work together allowing the cell to function must be conveyed in
some way in this project. (HINT: Think about how the organelles work together to make protein and help the
cell live)
Below, I have included a rubric I will use to grade your project. Follow this rubric to earn the maximum
amount of points. As always, if you have any questions about your project or would just like me to look over
it and give you some feedback please see me during or after class.
The organelles that must be included (you can include more if you’d like) are: cell membrane, cytoplasm,
vacuoles, mitochondria, nucleus, cytoskeleton, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, golgi, and lysosomes.

Want to earn some extra credit!? Neatly type up the written portions of your assignment. Include additional
organelles! Both can earn you extra points.
