Kindness • Helpfulness Prayer TM PLA NTING SEEDS OF FAI D TH IN EARLY CHILDHOO ry a m i r Pre-P Note to the Teacher This book has been prepared for a pre-kindergarten child. The book is perforated so you can tear out each sheet, complete it in class, and send it home with the child. Each page includes directions for completing the learning activities on that page. Encourage the child to take his paper home and share it with his parents and other family members. The parents’ letter is on page 3. Send it to the home on the first Sunday of the quarter, or deliver it personally before the quarter begins. In preparation for the quarter, you may want to take all the handwork books apart and cut around all the stickers. Put all the lesson 1 sheets and lesson 1 stickers in a folder; put all lesson 2 sheets and lesson 2 stickers in another folder or envelope; continue for all thirteen lessons. This saves time during the week, and you have everything together for Sunday. If a child is absent, be sure he receives his handwork sheet (and any stickers or additional pieces) and Planting Faith at Home leaflet the week following his absence. This book includes a memory verse chart and memory verse stickers. Post each child’s chart (inside back cover of the book) on the wall or bulletin board next to his attendance chart. Give each child his verse sticker the week after you teach the verse in class; e.g., on September 13 give him the star sticker for Ephesians 4:32. Using the Handwork Sheet This resource will help you review the Bible lesson and memory verse with your students. As the children are working on their handwork sheets, talk about the Bible story or its application. Help each child put his name on his paper. Materials f this Cut of with to use w o r ar lesson 11. Fall Quarter 2015 Planting Faith at W Home elcome to our Pre-Primary Department! If this is your child’s first quarter in the department, many new experiences await him as he learns Biblical truths and their application to his life. If he is continuing in the department, we want this quarter to be as exciting and stimulating as previous ones. Special Needs Please let us know any special things about your child. If you use a shortened name or nickname, we will do the same. It is also helpful if you tell us your child’s bathroom routines and any food sensitivities he or she may have. Review with Your Child Look at your child’s handwork each Sunday. Take time during the week to read the take-home paper, Planting Faith at Home, with your child. The stories, questions, parent tips, and activities will increase your child’s comprehension and application of the Bible lessons. All of them relate to the Bible truths we are emphasizing. Memory Verses You need to help your child with the memory verse each week. We learn the verse in class on Sunday; you need to review that verse with him throughout the week. When he comes to class the following Sunday, he will get a sticker for saying the previous week’s verse. Sincerely, —————————————————————————————————— (teacher) Quarter Overview Weeks 1–4 Kindness This unit uses four events from the life of David to illustrate kindness. Your child will have the opportunity to practice kindness each week. Helpfulness The Bible stories in this unit are all from the life of Elisha, a man God used to help other people. We want your child to realize ways he can be helpful and to be helpful at home and church. Weeks 9–13 Prayer Learning how Bible-time people prayed will help your child know how important prayer is. Your child will be encouraged to talk to God in prayer and to praise Him. TM PLA NTING SEEDS OF FAI TH September 13 David Is Kind to Saul (1 Samuel 24) “Do good to those who hate you” (Matthew 5:44).
