 Discuss the context of the text I have chosen with a focus on time period, author/director
and genre.
 Link this to the ideas and concerns the text deals with.
 Provide examples from the text of how these are being presented to an audience
Task Description:
Your task is to do some research and put together an online study resource that can be used to
study the novel, The Great Gatsby or the film, Gatsby.
Topics for researching context of novel and film
 Who wrote or directed it?
 What year was it released/published?
 What genre does the text fall into?
 What can you find out about the author/director's history?
 What can you find out about the author/director's views and values?
 What significant ideas/issues were being dealt with at the time?
