Using what you’ve learned to

That’s just what members of the Columbia College Computer Science Club
recently did, putting the skills and knowledge they gained in their classroom
studies to use by creating video game versions of classic board games.
This type of practical, hands-on application is typical of the opportunities
you’ll find across all of the computer and mathematical science majors at
Columbia College, where you’ll develop essential career skills and knowledge
while enjoying the best of a well-rounded liberal arts education.

Computer Information Systems (A.S., B.S.)
This program will provide you with a rigorous
theoretical background in information systems
along with the practical skills you need to go on
to graduate school or pursue your career. The
program also requires completion of several
business courses. With a wide range of elective
courses, you will also be able to tailor a program of
study to fit your specific interests.
Computer Science (B.S.)
Computer Science is the science of solving problems
using computers. With a significant mathematics
component, you will learn to analyze problems,
design solutions and then implement them by
writing computer programs. You will also learn to
understand the underlying hardware of a computer
and will be well prepared for the workplace or for
continued study in graduate school.
Management Information Systems (B.S.)
This program combines theory and practical
application so that you’ll understand the capabilities
and uses of computer technology in a business
context. You’ll be prepared to work confidently in a
variety of environments.
Mathematics (B.S.)
This program will give you a solid background in
mathematics that could lead to a career in business,
technology, or actuarial science, as well as continued
study at the graduate level.
Pre-engineering (A.S)
This program is specifically designed for those
looking to transfer into a four-year engineering
bachelor’s degree program after completing their
general education and preliminary math and
science courses at Columbia College. Your advisor
will help you select coursework appropriate to the
type of engineering you are interested in studying.
