Appalachian District Health Department is sponsoring ServSafe Serving Safe Food Certification
Courses. In just two days, attendees will be trained, tested, and certified through this allinclusive seminar. It is absolutely the fastest and easiest way to learn to:

Learn new ideas on training employees on safe food handling practices
Create guidelines for working to comply with regulatory agency requirements
Design safe facilities and choose appropriate equipment.
Learn about the new rules and regulation changes for the state of North Carolina
This class is taught by the Food and Lodging Inspectors of the Appalachian District Health
Department. The course includes the ServSafe Manager 6th edition course book, instruction by a
certified ServSafe instructor and the proctored certification exam.

ServSafe Manager Certification Exam
Appalachian District Health Department is offering proctored ServSafe Manager Certification
Exams. This exam does not include any instructional time.

**Watauga County Health Department, 2nd floor Conference Room**
The NC Food Code now requires that the person in charge on each shift is certified as a food
protection manager by passing a proctored exam that is ANSI accredited. Online exams do not
satisfy these requirements. Facilities without a certified food protection manager at the time
of sanitation inspections will receive a 2 point deduction on sanitation score. This deduction
began January 1, 2014.
*Register early since class space and proctored exam space is limited.

REGISTRATION FORMS CAN NO LONGER BE MAILED TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT.*
Registration forms along with payment (check, cash, Visa, Master Card or
Discover) may be accepted at the appropriate Health Department 8-4:45 pm.
If registration form is sent by fax or email, credit card payments may be accepted
over the phone after a Health Department employee has confirmed receipt of
registration form. If payment is not received on the same day as the registration
form, the spot will be filled by next paying applicant.
NO SPOTS WILL BE HELD WITHOUT RECEIPT OF BOTH REGISTRATION FORM AND PAYMENT.
Absent registrants will not receive a refund. If cancellation occurs prior to class and
the spot is filled, a partial refund may be given.
