How do we make our brains produce
endorphin (the happiness hormone)? We can achieve it through creativity and learning. In
the antiquity, in the Temples, sex rituals were used to produce an orgasm, which was considered the
highest form of exhilaration used as a spiritual connection with the Gods. Secret societies, religious
orders from East to West were after one thing... to connect with the Universal creative force through
exhilaration. You call it God, I call it love. This exhilaration is the passage to that Universal Force.
Whirling dervishes turn. Buddhists make an “oummm”sound. They exercise and do Yoga and
breathing exercises. During the 60 ties, meditation and even LSD had one purpose: to feel that
“buzz” that connection with the force. Their whole being was in exhilaration because their brain was
producing endorphin (the happiness hormone). In this course, we are going to learn how to trigger exhilaration through creativity and dare to realize
certain projects we were thinking about but, never dared to accomplish. We will learn how to love
ourselves and even love our mistakes thereby, feeling and transmitting love. We will learn how this
feeling of positivism is beneficial for our health and for our everyday life; how it will make us create
positive things and how the universe will respond to us. We will exchange stories and talk about
that project that is so dear to us and take the first step to make it come true. We will feel happy and
exhilarated like we never felt before!

The emergence of numerous urban
ballrooms during the early 19thcentury
attests to high demand for social dances as
a major popular diversion among the upper
classes and particularly among the rising
bourgeoisie in the major European cities.
The social background and musical style of these
dances, especially the waltz, will be surveyed
and accompanied by videos of reconstructed
dance performances. The eventual evolvement of
these dances and their absorption into operettas
and classical ballets will be further examined
and demonstrated through video excerpts from
Jacques Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène, Orpheus in
the Underworld, and the Tales of Hoffmann; Johann
Strauss II’s famous waltzes, The Blue Danube and
Tales from Vienna Woods, as well as his operetta Die
Fledermous; Delibes’s Coppellia, Minkus’s Bayadère , and
Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty.

Perhaps more than any other leading 19thcentury composer, Franz Schubert (17971828) has remained an elusive, self-effacing,
and enigmatic genius. During the 14-15 years
of his mature musical career - from as early as the
age of 16 to his death at 31 – Schubert composed
more than 2000 works. Among them are about

600 Lieder that transformed and elevated the
classical art-songs to a new level, seven complete
superb symphonies (plus the “Unfinished
Symphony”), brilliant chamber and piano works,
and hundreds of dances. Schubert’s originality
and significance as one of the main pillars of 19thcentury music became conspicuous only after
his death, thanks to towering composers such
as Schumann, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and
Mahler. This course sketches Schubert’s life and
examine some of his most beautiful and wellknown works – all within the broad context of
early 19th-century Vienna such as: the so-called
“Biedermeier Society,” the emergence of the
German Romantic movement (Goethe, Schiller,
Heine, Müller, and others), and the impact of
Mozart and Beethoven on his style. Most of the
musical examples will be either played on the
piano or presented in videos of live concerts.

gay marriage, abortion, reproductive technology, drug control
and gun regulations.

Politics is news – all the time. Groucho Marx
once said, “Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding
it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying
the wrong remedy.” Dr. Kurt Stone will take us on
an insider’s probe of the week’s stories, with
an eye toward proving Groucho wrong. Dr.
Stone – best-selling author, lecturer, political
operative in Washington and California, “worldclass news junky” – takes the stories apart. The
“players” and the “sides” are uncovered. Political
implications emerge, and solutions may magically
appear.

After the discovery of America not only did
Spain become a great economic and political
power but it rose to be the center of immense
artistic wealth. The human awareness of the
world was continuously expanding provoking
amazing creativity and speculation. Painters
like El Greco discovered spirituality in his own
paintings. Francisco de Zurbaran attracted
thousands with his mystic atmosphere. Esteban
Murillo depicted the life of simple folk. Court
painter Diego Velazquez had an insight of his
royal models. And, Francisco Goya liked to
portray contemporary life in Madrid. They all
excelled themselves in achieving different skills

characteristics.
