Krauter Goes Under Par to Win Second Event in a Row Brasco, Berger, Jarvis, and Chen Also Claim Victory Orlando, FL – The 25th PJT event of the season took place October 31-Nov 1, 2015 at Rio Pinar Country Club. Saturday’s weather featured warm temperatures and lots of sunshine. Sunday had some cloud cover roll in during the afternoon. Overall, the weather was great over the weekend. The golf course was in good shape and provided a great test for all competitors involved. Women 14-19 Starting things off in the Women 14-19 Division, Aline Krauter (2018) of Wesley Chapel, FL grabbed the headlines by posting the lowest 36-hole total of all competitors. Krauter was in a tie for the lead after opening with a one over par round of 73. On Sunday, Krauter made four birdies and a bogey in a six-hole stretch between holes 7-12, which was the pivotal point of the event. She would go on to par out, finishing with a three under par round of 69 on day two. Her total of two under par 142 was enough to give her a four stroke victory. “Rio Pinar was a great course to play,” said Krauter. “On the first day, I was struggling a bit. I was in the trees a lot, and had to chip out. My 69 today was a great score here. I missed a few birdie chances but it was still really good.” This is Krauter’s second victory in as many events this year on Tour. In her 4 rounds on Tour this year, Krauter is a combined -3. The victory has moved her up to T16 on the current Women 14-19 Points List. Runner up in the Division went to Kristine Yin (2018) of China. Yin was a co-leader with Krauter after opening with a 73 on the first day. However, Yin wasn’t able to keep pace with Krauter on day two. Yin would go on to post a 73 on Sunday, giving herself a 146 total and second place honors. Third place in the Division was awarded to Ana Sofia Meneses (2019) of Colombia. Meneses posted rounds of 77-83 for a total of 160. Men 13-15 In the Men 13-15 Division, Thomas Brasco (2017) of Winter Springs, FL completed a come from behind victory to take home first place honors in his very first event of the year. Brasco opened with a one over par score of 73, which put him two strokes behind heading into Sunday. However, on Sunday, he stayed consistent, putting together another 73 which included three bogeys and two birdies. His consistency paid off, as his 146 total gave him a four stroke victory at the end of the day Sunday. We talked to Brasco after his victory. He said, “I struggled a little bit off the tee, I was in the trees a lot, but my short game really helped. I felt like I played really well, and I’ll just build from here and keep progressing.” As was mentioned earlier, this is Brasco’s first victory as well as his first start this year on the PJT. Coming in second place was Kihei Hayashi (2018) of Wesley Chapel, FL. Hayashi was the Round 1 leader after opening with a 71, however, he struggled to a 79 on the second day, dropping him into the 2nd place position. Third place went to Ryan Kei (2018) of Lake Mary, FL. Kei also opened up strong, with a 72 on Saturday. However, an 81 on Sunday moved him down to a 3rd place finish. Men 16-19 It was a close race in the Men 16-19 Division over the weekend at Rio Pinar. First, second, and third place were all decided by just one stroke each. Emerging victorious in the Division was Cole Berger (2017) of Wesley Chapel, FL. Berger opened with a two under par round of 70, a round which included 4 birdies and 2 bogeys. Sunday was a bit more of a challenge for Berger, who ended up with a six over par round of 78. However, his two-day total of 148 was enough to give him a narrow one stroke victory. When asked about his victory, Berger said, “Rio Pinar was in beautiful shape, the greens were rolling beautifully. I want to thank Coach, he really helped me on hole 17 on Sunday. I had about 20 feet for birdie, and he helped me line it up, and I made it. That basically sealed it for me to win by one.” This is Berger’s first event on the PJT in 2015, and he earned 1200 points for the victory. Second place in the Division was awarded to Cheng Liu (2017) of Lake Mary, FL. Liu opened with a 75 on Saturday, and found himself five back of the lead heading into Sunday. Liu almost completed the comeback after posting 74 on Sunday, but his 149 total positioned him one stroke behind Berger. Nicolas Otero (2017) of Orlando, FL posted rounds of 72-78 to finish with a 150 total and the third place trophy. Young Men 9-12 We also saw some great competition in the Young Men 9-12 Division over the weekend at Rio Pinar. Aaron Jarvis (2019) of George Town, Cayman Islands took home the first place hardware after playing some great golf. Jarvis opened with an even par round of 72, which gave him a two stroke lead heading into Sunday. On Sunday, Jarvis stayed strong, posting a two over par round of 74. The two-day total of 146 gave him a six shot victory. After the trophy presentation on Sunday, Jarvis said, “The course was in really good condition; the greens were rolling nice. On the first day I struggled with my driver, but then I fixed that today. Yesterday I putted really well, but I couldn’t really putt today, so it kind of evened itself out.” This is his first win on the PJT in 2015, and he has earned 1200 points for his performance. Runner up was awarded to Aaron Zhang (2022) of Lake Mary, FL. Zhang was just two back heading into Sunday after a 74 on day 1.
