Permanis takes top PepsiCo regional honours
Leading drinks manufacturer wins SEA Bottler of the Year award
Kuala Lumpur, March 21st 2011: Permanis Sdn Bhd added another feather to its
cap when the company was voted PepsiCo’s Southeast Asia Bottler of the Year in
recognition of its outstanding business results and efforts in 2010.
Permanis, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CI Holdings Bhd and PepsiCo’s official
bottling partner for Malaysia, shut out other PepsiCo bottlers from Southeast Asia
and the Pacific Islands to claim top regional honours. The Bottler of the Year award is
presented annually to companies meeting key criteria that include sales performance,
market share, marketing/promotion innovation as well as leadership in corporate
social responsibilities.
The company’s sales performance in 2010 saw Permanis growing its total PepsiCo
brand portfolio by 31% from the previous year as well as registering year on year
market share growth across all beverage categories
“We are delighted to win this award,” said Permanis Chief Executive Officer Erwin
Selvarajah after receiving the award from PepsiCo International’s Asia, Middle East
and Africa (AMEA) CEO Saad Abdul-Latif at a ceremony in Bangkok. “It was an
eventful 2010 for Permanis and it’s great to see our collective hard work and efforts
recognised.”
Erwin said the Bottler of the Year award recognition this year was based on the
company’s significant investments in production, warehousing and sales capabilities;
winning marketing initiatives including Malaysian Effie’s ‘Best Digital Marketing’
awards for their Revive Facebook campaign; and strong innovative in-store
programmes and activities as well as continued efforts to improve and lead in
corporate social responsibility initiatives for environment, sports and social welfare
development in the country.
“The award also acknowledges PepsiCo’s confidence in Permanis as a long-term
strategic growth partner for its Malaysian beverage business,” he said, adding that
2010 also saw the US food and drink manufacturing giant extending Permanis’ rights
to manufacture and sell its beverage brands in Malaysia for another 10 years.
Permanis’ partnership with PepsiCo Malaysia has also been recognised with other
PepsiCo International awards such as the Asian Tiger Award in 2007 for ‘Driving
Innovation’ (7Up Revive Isotonic), the AMEA Tiger Award in 2008 for ‘Leveraging
Insights in Store’ (Tropicana Twister) and the South East Asia Business Unit
(SEABU) ‘Best Reapplication Award’ in 2010 for best adaptation of a global
campaign in the SEABU (Mountain Dew).
