Tuesday: Discuss 1920’s Project and begin Project Objectives: For students to use their knowledge and notes from Monday to construct a 1920’s screen play in the format of a children’s book. Lesson Title: Unit 5: Transition to Modern America Warm-‐Up: Come in and get into their groups for the screen plays Activities: Throughout the next two weeks students will be discussing the 1920’s and transition into modern day America. Throughout this time period we all know that America went through a lot of rapid changes and transition into the old ways working on the farms and long hours in the factories to more self seeking forms of entertainment and lazzie faire idea of government. To help better understand this idea students will be developing their own “Screen plays” or silent films on paper, this is going to be done in the form of a children’s book. As most of the things during this time period revolve around entertainment and other ways to expression, the students will be following along with the time period in developing their own stories in telling the story of America in the 1920’s. Students will be given a packet to help them formulate their ideas and two computer days to research information and outline their ideas. As well as two regular class days one for developing and one for finalizing. Then each group will present their idea of their film to the class as the class takes note of each story. Each class will be competing for the best “screen play” and opportunity for bonus points. Day 1-‐ Develop and organize their thoughts and ideas for the book using the Textbook and phones. Day 2-‐ Computer Lab for research and pictures to print off of the internet Day 3-‐ Computer Lab for research and picture to print off of the internet Day 4-‐ Finalize and complete the project Day 5-‐ Present Projects Assessment/Reflection: Did all students engage and work on packets? Did all students understand the project? Are conversations about the 1920’s or of other things? Homework: Test Review Due Oct 31 Materials: Construction Paper Textbooks Packets for all students Packets for MOD students Computer Lab checked out Print out of PowerPoints for all groups Wednesday: 1920’s Project (Computer Lab) Objectives: For students to use their knowledge and notes from Monday to construct a 1920’s screen play in the format of a children’s book.
