STARTING POSITION
In response to different risks, ARATOS-SWISS Homeland Security
AG was formed and is able to deploy wide area operational monitoring
and security solutions to protect environments with his infrastructure,
peoples and animals. The key mission is the early identification of
risks. This risk identification ranges from operational like perimeter
intrusion detection through the identification and monitoring of
the local environment, identifying potential malicious intruders
before they cross perimeters in order to facilitate quick and efficient
mitigation and response measures to be implemented.
In the ARATOS-SWISS suite of products we believe that we have
developed a leading solution for monitoring and protecting critical
areas features through monitoring the environment local to the
feature, identifying anti-poachers and detection of anomalous
behaviour with the potential to manifest as physical or operational
risk.

facility surveillance and protection. Through a combination of our
proprietary software technology and our deep-seated relationships

SOLUTIONS
About the wide area in National Parks the most effective solution will
be to use RPAS Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems to monitoring the
area, «your eyes in the sky», information from the third dimension in
combination with different sensors and software for automatically
detection of treaths, supported from the ground with a new generation
off invisible Laserliths, surveille ground sensors like radars. All in
combination with a communication network and transmitted to the
Ground Control Center.
Our focus was to make a configuration for a long endurance and
long range RAPS witch can stay nonstop over night in the sky. The
RPAS must be easy to operate, low operation costs and robust with
a high quality of the videos to give in realtime best information to
act on threats supported by software for automatically detection of
potential threats.

PENGUIN C is a breakthrough product in terms of performance,
reliability and cost efficiency. The aircraft fits under 55 lbs. regulation
requirements, equipped with parachute recovery system and the
state of art avionics, powerplant and software.
PENGUIN C is capable of operating from unimproved terrain, day
and night for over 20 hours.
The design is based on a proven platform, which has been sold to
customers in 20 countries and has demonstrated a 54.5 hour world
record flight in 2012.

GROUND CONTROL STATION GCS
For the GCS we have solutions to offer. The configuration allows to
fly 100km in Line of Sight (LOS). If you install the GCS in the middle
of a mission you reach 200km (100km in radius).
SOLUTION I
You use the GCS as Portable Ground Control Station, launcher,
antenna and RPAS as equipment in your car. In this way you are
independent for the missions.
SOLUTION II
The installation will be fix in a “Checkpoint” or ranger offices.
There you are limited of the range, depending the environment like
mountains etc.
It’s also existing the possibility to install on pikes relay antennas to
enlarge the range for the needs the customers have.
START AND LANDING
If the installation is fix and there is a runway we can usen wheels for
start and landing. If the customer like to have a mobile solution to be
independent then the launcher and parachute is the best way.

AUTOMATICALLY DETECT CARS AND PEOPLE MOVEMENT
Securing borders requires constant vigilance over vast areas of varied
terrain. Security forces must detect activity that could be linked to
terrorism, people trafficking, smuggling and narcotics.
Using traditional airborne surveillance to detect and monitoring
people, security forces must use a narrow field of view (FoV) which
significant reduces the area they can cover. Operator fatigue during
long operations can also impact detection. Enhanced airborne
surveillance and analytics enable security forces to maintain a wider
FoV, increasing the area that can be reliably covered. Automatic
detection rates ensures vigilances is maintained and detection rates
are greatly enhanced.

DVS ACTIVITY CONTROL SYSTEMS
DVS (Vibration and Acoustic) can be deployed along lengths of
borders to deliver alerts on trafficking, smuggling, infiltration,
illegal entry and activity. It is often adopted into existing security
infrastructures in order to enhance monitoring over longer distances.
No power is needed along the border line not even for the amplifier,
only a FOC in the ground (+/-60cm) is needed.

ACTIVITY CONTROL SYSTEM
The FOC deployed underground along the border is able to detect
all border area incursions, identifying and classifying such incursions
to identify and prioritize those caused by people and vehicles whilst
discounting false positives such as animal activity etc. In addition
to the location of incursion, detection of which is accurate to 10m,
the FOC solution is also able to determine direction of travel of the
encroaching person or object. Alerts will automatically be generated
from the FOC system and will immediately be sent to the relevant
security forces and the nearest RPAS to provide real time aerial
surveillance of the incident site. As such the perpetrators of the
incursion are unaware of their detection and persistent surveillance
until the security forces interdict them. FOC works also as fence
protection.
COMMUNICATION
The installed FOC doubles as an effective high-speed terrestrial
communication medium. In combination with the MFR it delivers
a holistic tactical communication systems including wireless and
Ethernet communication bearers. The FOC will provide a physical
connection to the centralized C2 center and will act as the primary
backhaul for the various MFR cells.

CONCLUSION
Monitoring with RPAS is very effective as you can monitoring also at
night with good results about the temperature difference between
the environment and the engines of the cars or the temperature of
the human bodies. As there are many animals we will have lots of
“Hot-Spots” but to make a difference between animals, human and
cars it’s not difficult. Sensors will give support to all other efforts.
INFORMATION
As we have not much of information it would be the best first to visit
the POI Point of Interest to study the situation, make presentation
with the rangers, have some interviews to work together out the best
solution.
