services with a specific focus on cross border dimension and multiclient services.
The feasibility studies has been developed taking into account the market demand in
freight transport and the commercial relations between the port of La Spezia and the
hinterland, in the North of Italy and South of Europe. The link between port and its
hinterland is becaming one of the key for incerasing the competitiveness of Ports in
the MED area.
The sinergies with the new european transport policies based on Core Network
Corridors have been taken into account in order to promote the rail transport, the
multimodality and innovative logistic services in the framework of european market.
The metodology
Several interviews have been developed for the identification of new intermodal
services or for the implementation of existing intermodal services. Specifically LSPA
has carried out a first step of interviews to:



operators in terms of interoperability of systems and new logistic services and to
explore the opportunities for business community to improve the operations and the
services they offer to their customers using European projects. The interviews are
aiming to explore new business area to implement and/or to build new intermodal
transport services supported by European projects like IfreightMED DC.

the current market useful for the development of intermodal activities. Specifically the
interviews have been an opportunity to update discuss about the real needs of the
operators and the bottlenecks to overcame in order to implement intermodal services.
The interviews were carried out on the following operators:
