3. Foundation Stone for construction of Khulna-Mongla Port Railway Line Length: 67.7 km; Total cost US$ 452 Million LOC Component: US$ 308 Million Mongla is the second largest port in Bangladesh. With the aim to provide railway connectivity to the port with the existing railway network, a 67.7 km Broad Gauge rail link project has been sanctioned under the Indian Line of Credit. The estimated cost of the project is US$ 452 million, out of which the LoC component will be US$ 308 million. The starting date of the project was 31.12.2010 and the target date for completion is 30.06.2018. The tenders for the track and bridges have been awarded to Indian companies M/s IRCON and M/s L&T. H E Prime Minister of India and HE Prime Minister of Bangladesh jointly laid the Foundation Stone of the project in Prime Minister’s Office on June 6, 2015. ***
