Course Program for the Alternative Major
Department of Chemistry
This form should only be completed by students interested in the alternative major.
Please fill out this form and submit it to the Chemisty Undergraduate Instructional
Office, 131 Baker Laboratory.
Students in the alternative major need to choose a total of four additional courses in consultation with their
faculty advisor. One of the courses must be a 3- or 4-credit course in chemistry at the 300-level or above.
The other three courses may be in another field of study, such as biochemistry, physics, biology, materials
science, economics, government or education. These courses should not be at the introductory level and must
be approved by a departmental committee. Many students who double major use courses from their second
major to satisfy this requirement.
