The course focuses on the liabilities and equity side of the balance sheet and examines more sophisticated accounting topics such as corporate taxes, leases, pensions and earnings per share. Attendance in class is expected and assignments due on time. This course demands regular and continuous effort directed at problem solving in preparation for examinations that integrate various topics. Each chapter has a summary and comprehensive review question and these are recommended for your study. All assignments are to be submitted either neatly prepared on lined paper or typed. The use of a computer for assignments is encouraged. There will be two midterms and one comprehensive final exam . Regular class attendance is expected. Students are responsible for all announcements made in class, whether the student is present or not. Assignments must be submitted on the due date. Late assignments are not accepted. It is required that students keep a copy of anything that is submitted for marks. Exams must be written at the scheduled date, time and location. Only a legitimate reason, such as illness will be accepted as an excuse. Alternative arrangements may be possible if presented with a doctor’s certificate. Students must complete all the specified requirements of the course, or a final grade will not be given. Course information is subject to change (consistent with College policy) with notice. Devices with digital text of photo display (cell phones, programmable calculators, etc.) are not permitted for use in exams. Please ensure that you have a basic calculator for both midterms and final exam. Students are responsible for maintaining a classroom atmosphere that will promote and encourage learning.
