Reliance Rural Development Trust (RRDT) is a corporate NGO, unheard of in this part of the country. Promoted by Reliance in September 2001, the RRDT aimed at implementing a part of the welfare program viz Gokul Gram Yojana (GGY) of the Government of Gujarat. The RRDT’s synergy with the governmental welfare programs in the rural areas of Gujarat is something very unique. The skill, speed and excellence of Reliance and the Government’s intention of creating basic infrastructure in villages of Gujarat got together. The planned and sustained endeavors brought about substantial development and changed the rural scene in Gujarat. In less than a decade’s time, 5558 villages of Gujarat spread in 213 talukas and 25 districts saw creation of 7183 facilities. The 7183 facilities created include 3272 Anganwadis (pre-primary schools), 741 Panchayat offices, 1463 Roads, 1507 Community Halls, 38 Check-dams and 158 various drinking water facilities and 04 other facilities.
