Notice is hereby given that Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana will be receiving sealed
bids for the following project:
Faculty Offices & Classroom Renovation, Poling Building, Room 206, 4475 Central
Avenue, Columbus, IN

The bid documents will be available to bidders on or after Friday, 16 August, 2013. Bid

BIDS DUE:
Bids are to be received at the Ivy Tech Columbus Business Office, located at 4475 Central
Avenue, Columbus, IN 47203 until 2:00 p.m. (local time), Monday 9 September 2013. Any
bids received after this time will not be considered.
BID SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
All bids must be received in a sealed envelope. No faxed or e-mailed bids will be accepted.
Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana reserves the right to accept or reject any part of any
bid and to waive any irregularities in the bidding. All bidders must be able to meet the
requirements of Ivy Tech State Board of Trustees Resolution Number 2004-32 as well as
other College requirements included in the bid documents.

USE OF PREMISES
A.
use if the Site: Limit use of the premises to work in areas indicated. Do not disturb portions of
project beyond areas in which the work is indicated.

Limits: Confine construction operations to building tenant fit-out as described within
construction bid documents and within these specification documents.
Owner Occupancy: Allow for Owner occupancy of Project adjacent site and use by the
public.
Driveways and Entrances: Keep driveways, loading areas, and entrances serving premises
clear and available to Owner, Owner’s employees, and emergency vehicles at all times.
Do not use these areas for parking or storage of materials.

Schedule deliveries to minimize use of driveways and entrances.
Schedule deliveries to minimize space and time requirements for storage of
materials and equipment on-site.

Use of Existing Building: Maintain existing building in a weathertight condition throughout
construction period. Repair damage caused by construction operations. Protect building and its
occupants during construction period.

Use of existing exterior entrance is allowed for delivery and removal of materials and tools. No
parking behind the building is allowed.

OWNER’S OCCUPANCY REQUIREMENTS
A.
Full Owner Occupancy: Owner/landlord will occupy site and existing adjacent building during
entire construction period. Cooperate with Owner during construction operations to minimize
conflicts and facilitate Owner usage. Perform the Work so as not to interfere with Owner’s dayto-day operations. Maintain existing exits, unless otherwise indicated.

Maintain access to existing walkways, corridors, and other adjacent occupied or used
facilities. Do not close or obstruct walkways, corridors, or other occupied or used
facilities without written permission from the Owner and other aythorities having
jurisdiction.
WORK RESTRICTIONS:
A.
Nonsmoking building: Smoking is not permitted within the building or within 25 feet(8 m) of
entrances, operable windows, or outdoor air intakes.

SPECIFICATION FORMATS AND CONVENTIONS
A.
Specification Format: The Specifications are organized into Divisions and Sections using the
27-division format and CSI/CSC’s “MasterFormat” numbering system.

Division 01: Sections in Division 1 govern the execution of the work of all Sections in
the specifications.
Specification Contact: The specifications use certain conventions for style of language and the
intended meaning of certain terms, words, and phrases when used in particular situations. These
conventions are as follows:

Abbreviated Language: Language used in the Specifications and other Contract
Documents is abbreviated. Words and meanings shall be interpreted as appropriate.
Words implied, but not stated, shall be inferred as the sense requires. Singular words

Imperative mood and streamlined language are generally used in the Specifications.
