Steps to Getting Started at COLLEGE OF DUPAGE Check off each step as you complete them! □ 1. Apply! Go online to www.cod.eduCreate a profile and answer the questions following the examples. You will receive your acceptance letter approximately 2 weeks after you submit your admissions form. The non-refundable $20 admissions-recording fee must accompany your admissions form. If you have any questions about your application please call the Admissions Office at 630-942-2380. □ 2.Create your student MyACCESS online student account. After you receive your COD acceptance letter and COD ID number go To myaccess.cod.edu and select: “I ‘m New to MyAccess”. Read the instructions carefully.USER ID: Remember your PASSWORD____________ YOUR MYACCESS USERNAME AND PASSWORD WILL BE USED FOR EMAIL, APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIP AND BLACKBOARD. IT IS IMPORTANT SO DO NOT FORGET IT! □ 3. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and Scholarships (www.cod.edu/scholarships). Visit the FAFSA website to determine what a student may be eligible f or in terms of federal grants or loans. Many scholarships are due in early spring (February/April) If you h ave any questions about financial aid please call the Financial Aid Office at 630-942-2251 or visit them in the SSC 2220. □ 4. If you have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) Contact the Center for Access and Accommodations (SSC 3249). If you received accommodations in high school you can meet with someone from the Center for Access and Accommodations to learn about what you may be eligible for here at COD. For more information call 630 942-4260 □ 5. Take the necessary placement tests. Testing Lab, BIC 2405, (630) 942-2400. No special preparation or appointment is necessary for these no-fail placement tests. A picture ID is required. Take placement tests before meeting an advisor or going to orientation. You will need proof of your ACT score if you scored 20 or higher (this exempts you from the reading and writing placement test). Sample questions for the tests can be found on the following website www.act.org/compass/sample/. □ 6. Contact Counseling and Advising (630) 942-2251. Make an appointment with an advisor to discuss your placement test results and assist with your class placement. You may also attend a BEGIN@COD session to discuss your class options. □ 7. Register for classes (SSC 2222). Your options to register are: 1) in person or 2) by phone or 3) online through your MyAccess account. Once you have registered print out a copy of your schedule. You will be required to prove prerequisites prior to registering for a Chemistry course at College of DuPage. For more information call 630- 942-2377. □ 8. Pay your tuition by your payment deadline. Look in your MyAccess account for deadline dates. Tuition is due in full the day of registration unless a payment plan is selected. If you do not make arrangements for payment of tuition by the deadline date, you will be dropped from your classes. Applying for financial aid is the students responsibility. (see flip side of the sheet for more information on financial aid). If you would like to sign up for a payment plan please do so via your MyAccess student online account. □ 9. Buy your books. Textbooks are usually available 3-4 weeks before the start of the term. Bring your class schedule with you. You can print a copy of your class schedule via MyAccess online student account. You can purchase your books online or on-campus. If you want to purchase your books online go to www.codbooks.com □ 10. High School Transcripts needed if it contains your ACT scores or if you took chemistry for 2 semester with a “C” or better and plan to take chemistry in college. Please send to records office.
