A 18 n n Sunday, February 23, 2014 TULSA AREA UNITED WAY A Message from the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the President and CEO The Tulsa Area United Way experienced a truly historic year in 2013. For the first time in its 89-year history, our United Way surpassed $26 million during the annual campaign for the community. The astonishing amount was $959,826 beyond our original goal of $25,200,000. This success is truly a testament to the deep and far-reaching generosity of our community, and places the Tulsa Area United Way among the most elite United Way organizations in the U.S. The record-breaking 2013 campaign belongs to all of us – whether we give, receive or both. The Community Collaborations initiative encourages local non-profit organizations to work together in addressing broad-based community needs, such as homelessness or neighborhood improvement. The Venture Grants program provides funding to jump start new and creative approaches to community challenges. Both programs foster innovation, shared responsibility and efficiency among agencies in making the Tulsa area a better place to live, work and raise a family. We’re looking forward to another banner year in 2014. Thank you for Living United! Mark R. Graham President and CEO The surplus provided us with a unique and exciting opportunity to further strengthen our investments in the community, including much-needed additional funding for partner agencies. This year, we also will expand our new Community Collaborations and Venture Grants initiatives. 2013 Board of Directors Board Chair: Chet Cadieux - QuikTrip Corporation Chair Elect: Becky J.
