Extended Response:
Write a paragraph explaining the impact Garrett Morgan and
Granville Woods had on transportation throughout the United States.
Garrett Morgan – invented automatic traffic signal in 1923. This controlled
traffic as it told drivers when to stop and when to go at busy intersections.
Made roads safer to travel on.
Granville Woods – invented the railroad telegraph in 1887. This device
allowed train engineers to send and receive messages from the train while it
was moving. With the railroad telegraph trains could let other trains know
when they were stopped or broken down. This helped to prevent crashes and
made railroads safer to travel on.
