They make changes to their core and don’t tell subscribers. We believe they are not testing it
before they release them out. This is termed “Agile Development” They roll it out before ready
then apologize a lot and fix it
Steve Beining is leaving Clackamas this week. He is going to Portland Community College.

We have had several campus moves.

Enrollment is down.
•
Title III Grant is providing $2.2 million in funding over a five-year span.

Reviewing Blackboard Content and Community systems. Content makes more sense.

Recruiting for a Vice President of the student side of operations since July 1, 2013.

Bond vote will be coming up November 10, 2013

$28 million in new building construction.

 Hover Cam Solo 5: Hover cameras that can pick up the whole class at $200 each.

Blue Mountain Community College is an Achieve the Dream (ATD) school.

Mandatory orientation on Blackboard for all degree-seeking students is required now.

Found that they needed to add more orientations in late September to accommodate.
Implemented Smarter Measure.

500 assessments done so far.

It has given students a lot of resources including how to use tutorials (e.g. “How to use Office
2012”)

Steve Smith, LBCC, asked if Bruce had seen any statistics that it helps students. Bruce
replied that it has been self-reporting and depends upon quality of input (GIGO). Some
institutions are starting to trial use and store results.

Barbara Klett, COCC, stated that they are impressed with Smart Measure where the
faculty knows what is there and they can really push things.

FTE – uncertain. Thinks enrollment is up.

Offering fewer distance courses.

Curious about Canvas – it looks sweet. Looked at Canvas four years ago and found it intuitive, different
from Blackboard.

Enrollment is down 4%. Guessing that online enrollment is up.

Has a new President that began this summer.

They had a kick-off in fall but the president could not attend as he was in the emergency room.

No one knows the new rules.

iLearn campus roll out - a virtual campus.

Each course requires a computer pre-test for course.

Statement: These are all the competencies and these are all the assignments that lead to this
degree.
