Doing Your Homework:
o A day’s homework is usually two Homework Section Assignments (sometimes 1 or 3)
o When starting each Section Assignment:
o Start on a fresh sheet of paper
o Put your Name & Assignment numbers in the right top corner of first page
o Suggestion: Use 2 columns on each page to save paper
o Use both front and back pages but leave a little space between problems
o When you start a new group of exercises, Copy the line of Exercise Group Directions
o For each exercise in that group:
o Write exercise number and the original exercise
(word problems: summarize in a few words)
o Write down intermediate work steps and notations – most exercises will have them
……(don’t just “do them in your head”, even if you can)
o Write down all side computations and circle your answer after it checks out
o Leave a little empty space between exercises
o Suggested: Every 5 exercises, see if you are on the right track (with right answers and eoo
numbering)
o Check these 5 answers in the back of the textbook
o Correct any wrong answers (if you can ) by fixing the work steps
o If you don’t completely correct an exercise: Mark the Problem Number with a big X
o Circle only the correct answers that have correct work steps.
o If more than one page was used for this section, Staple them together at top left
o If you don’t finish or have skipped some of the exercises, Please say so:
example: skipped 87-101
When you come to take one of the four Major Tests, bring ALL your homework with you:
o Only 3 Sections will be used for your Homework Credit
o I will tell you the Section numbers to be handed in.
(or the DSPS or LRC desk will tell you)
o Staple only the 3 Section Assignments together, in order.
o Pass them in to me for Grading (or leave with our test at DSPS or the LRC),
then put away the rest of your homework.
o Late homework is not accepted. Don’t forget it! It will be treated as Missing.
o Missing homework will get 0 points and result in a lower grade.
Here’s a SAMPLE of homework done neatly. I’ve done the EVEN ones so not to spoil your HW.
Group instructions are shown. Original exercise information is copied.
Please note the work steps in these simple exercises – plan to include them when appropriate.
Answers are circled (after being checked in the back of the book!)
If more than one page is used, staple them together.
