Mrs. Wells’s 3rd Grade Newsletter
Dear Families,
I want to extend a huge thank you to all of you
for sending in your child’s supplies so quickly. I was
incredibly overwhelmed by all of the Wish List items
that were sent! Thanks so much! We are off to a
wonderful start.
I am very excited and enthusiastic about
teaching your child this year in third grade. It is in
your child’s best interest that we all work together in
regard to his/her education. Thus, I will be asking for
your help and support throughout the year. This
newsletter will better explain all of our classroom
procedures for you. I look forward to having a
successful year with you and your child.

HOMEWORK SCHEDULE/AGENDAS
To keep you, your child, and myself as organized
as possible, we will have a consistent homework
schedule every week. Homework should take
approximately 30 minutes per night to complete.
Assignments will be written in Agenda every day. If
your child completes all of his/her homework, please
initial that day. They will receive a stamp every day
their Agenda is signed that homework is completed.
Please, never sign unless assignment is written and
completed. Magnets are moved 1 space if either
homework isn’t complete or Agenda is not signed. This
is the responsibility of each child every day.

SNACK CALENDAR
In our classroom, good nutrition is crucial to
keep our brains working well. We will have a snack time
each day and I would appreciate your help in making this
possible.
I will list students’ snack days alphabetically on
the Friday Progress Report each week. You would be
responsible for providing snack for the class. You will
need to send approximately 22 snacks; however, the
exact number of students in the class will be indicated
on the Progress Report. This number may change from
time to time. If you would rather not participate in the
snack calendar, please let me know☺
I do request that you send nutritious snacks
that are individually packaged: that is, prepackaged or
in Ziploc Baggies. We will not have time to divide out
snack every day. The less sugar in our snack, the
better! Here are examples of nutritious snacks:
-Fresh Fruits -Vegetables
-goldfish
-Bagels
-Pretzels
-Popcorn
-cereal bars
-Cheese crackers
-Granola Bars
-Yogurt Sticks
***NO PEANUTS OR PEANUT BUTTER, PLEASE
Please do not send snacks such as cookies, cupcakes,
chips, Little Debbie snack cakes, fruit roll ups, etc.
BIRTHDAY TREATS
On your child’s birthday, you may send treats
for the class. We will take the cupcakes, etc. to lunch
with us and pass them out to the students. This will not
replace our snack for the day.
WATER BOTTLES
Our brains work better when our bodies are well
hydrated, so we are going to keep “water” bottles on
our desk in the classroom. If you would like to bring in
a water bottle, it must have a squeeze top, that is, one
that does not have to be unscrewed to get a drink. This
will eliminate any messes that might otherwise be
created. Water bottles must be filled at home and
contain only plain water. They may not be refilled at
school as this would take up too much time.

RELATED ARTS
This year, we are on an ABCDEF schedule
instead of a M-F schedule. Your child will not have the
same class on the same day every week. Remember, if
we miss school due to snow, everything will be carried
over to the day we return. We will have Related Arts
from 1:25-2:10.

ACCELERATED READER
As most of you already know, our school is
fortunate to have the Accelerated Reading Program.
Each week, your child will be responsible for earning a
certain amount of points based on his/her reading level.
They must earn these with an 85% to attend
“Lunch Bunch”. We will also have at the end of every 6
