Use your drug card and benefit from its advantages. How does your deferred payment drug card work? It’s instantaneous. It’s safe. Even better, there are no forms to fill. Accepted in most pharmacies across Canada, your drug card is the quickest and easiest way to process claims. Simply present your prescription along with your deferred payment drug card to your pharmacist. Your claim will be processed electronically. You will need to pay for your prescription upfront, but your drug card facilitates the process of getting your money back. No need to deal with forms, receipts and stamps anymore. You only have to carry one card in your wallet. Your Insurance certificate is both your proof of coverage and your drug card. Deferred payment drug card 01 How much is covered by your plan? Deductible: the amount of money you have to pay out-of-pocket before your group plan pays your claims. Co-insurance: a certain percentage of your health care expenses reimbursed by your group plan after applying the deductible. For example, if your group plan reimburses 80% of your prescription medication, you would then have to assume the remaining 20% of your drug cost. Prescription drug coverage is one of the benefits offered under your group insurance plan. Depending on your plan, you may share the cost of prescription drugs through a deductible, a co-insurance, or both. Refer to the Prescribed Drug Benefit and the Summary of Benefits in your employee booklet to find out all the modalities applicable to your plan. Extra benefits Your drug card includes a number of built-in features. Coordination of benefits If you and your spouse are covered for prescription medication with each other’s insurer, present your prescription along with both drug cards to your pharmacist. The pharmacist will use the cards to have the two plans cover as much as possible of the cost so that you pay as little as possible. The same applies for prescription drug claims for dependent children. Click on the Your booklet tab under Your File in the VIP Room for more information on the drugs and costs covered under your group insurance plan. To coordinate the benefits between group insurance plans, ensure you provide us with the right information regarding your spouse and children, particularly their dates of birth. 02 Deferred payment drug card For more information on Standard Life’s Privacy Policy, visit standardlife.ca.
