News From Employment Services
Computer Purchase Program for full-time benefited employees ...
It has been almost two years since Foundation
launched its Computer Purchase Program, and nearly
50 employees have taken advantage of this program
since its implementation.
This program permits eligible employees to purchase
computer equipment from the Bronco Bookstore on
an “account” and then pay for their purchase using
payroll deductions. The amount of the purchase can
be up to $2,400 and the employee can take as long
as 24 months to pay for their purchase using payroll
deductions. Although only one purchase at a time can
be on your account, the program can be reused once
the purchase has been fully cleared.
When we first launched this program in September 2011, eligible employees included full-time
benefited employees with at least one year of full-time service working in the Bookstore, Dining
Services, Kellogg West, University Village, CEU, and Foundation Administration, and excluded those
employees working in grants and contracts.
We are pleased to report we will now extend the Computer Purchase Program to all full-time
benefited employees on a trial basis. The Bookstore is often running specials of some sort and if
they do not have a particular system or software program immediately available, they can order
nearly anything.
When you are ready to use the Computer Purchase Program, please contact Jennifer DeJolie in
Employment Services and she will walk you through the simple and fast process.
The Computer Purchase Program is just one of many benefits provided to Foundation employees; be
sure to read about other employee benefits in future Foundation newsletters.
To get started on the Computer Purchase Program, contact Jennifer DeJolie at ext. 2962.

Bronco Computer Store Introduces New Products
This coming October marks the Bronco Bookstore’s 30th year of selling affordable technology to CPP
students. Back on a Tuesday in 1984, the El Patio Bookstore (now Bronco Bookstore) began selling
computer systems to the CPP campus community.
Today, almost 30 years later, we continue to sell computers and technology, while fulfilling the mission
of making it affordable for the CPP campus.
The Bronco Computer Store (soon to be known as Bronco Tech at the Bronco Bookstore) is now
selling a full line of Dell consumer products for purchase, including Dell Laptops, PCs, and Dell’s own
Windows 8 tablets.
Along with Dell, many other new products and services are also on their way and will be available
in the near future. Some exciting new services to watch for will be new warranty programs and an
expanded full service repair center for computers, laptops, and mobile devices. More computers,
product lines, and services are coming soon, so keep an eye on the Computer Store for several
exciting changes.
Be sure to stop by the Bronco Bookstore and check out the many new, fun products and accessories
to protect and beautify your favorite tech gadgets!

University Village Will Get Automated
Convenience Store
The University Village will soon have a Shop24,
the first fully automated refrigerated convenience
store designed to enable 24/7 accessible consumer
purchasing. From snacks to personal care items,
Shop24 delivers over 200 items ranging in weight
from one ounce to ten pounds.
“Shop24 will allow us to serve the residents at the
University Village who have not had access to any
food services within a reasonable walking distance
before. They are very excited about our partnership
with Shop24,” states Aaron Neilson, Interim Director
of Dining Services. “The integration of our campus
card will also allow us to gain better penetration of
our Bronco Bucks program in that location.”
Shop24 stores are powered by patented technology
that enables remote access to the store, allowing
the operator to handle business operations
such as dynamic pricing, promotions, real-time
inventory management, as well as the capture and
measurement of key retail business metrics.
Installation will begin this September, making the
University Village the third vicinity in California to
have a Shop24.

Poly Trolley Makes Its Way to Southern California Edison
On Wednesday, August 21, the Poly Trolley parked in front of Innovation Village’s Southern California Edison
building to serve surrounding tenants. Those working at Innovation Village had the convenience of purchasing
Starbucks, breakfast, and lunch as the truck was stationed there from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Innovation Village tenants not only had access to the food truck all day, but thanks to the Foundation real
estate department, they also received free soft drinks and water as well; this gesture was to thank Innovation
Village tenants for their patience and cooperation during the construction of the university sewer line, which
disrupted traffic on Kellogg Drive for several weeks.
Tables were conveniently set up around the Poly Trolley and Starbucks samples were handed out to
those waiting.
“It’s been great,” expressed Assistant Director of Retail Dining Sandy Cain in the midst of the event. “We
made a great amount on breakfast alone.”
Since the turnout at Innovation Village was so successful, dining services is considering making a regular stop
in front of Southern California Edison.
Wherever the truck may end up, be sure to look out for their new, expanded menu this fall!
For more information and to find out where the Poly Trolley is located, visit www.PolyTrolley.com.

What’s New in Dining Services?
Los Olivos ...
Los Olivos is currently undergoing their second phase of renovations. The first
set of renovations took place last year; we refurbished the lobby, introduced the
Health and Wellness Center, and added the sack lunch program for students on
the go.
This fall, students will return to a newly renovated servery, complete with new
floor tile, lighting, cabinetry, paint, wainscoting, countertops, and a vegan station.
In addition, a greater focus on informing students about allergens with greater
access to nutritional content will also be available.
We will also see the migration away from CBord’s “Manage My ID” program, which
is used to enrich Bronco IDs with Bronco Bucks, to a streamlined mobile app called
“GET Funds.” It will be the first phase of a three-tiered approach over the coming
years to leverage the mobile culture. These modules include “GET Venues” that
include an interactive map of our dining venues complete with hours of service
and menus, as well as “GET Food,” a fully functional mobile ordering app.
Locations using the Micros POS systems will be the first to take advantage of the GET Food app. Students will
be able to order and pay for food with their meal points or Bronco Bucks using their mobile devices.
Starbucks ...
Get your smartphones out!
The Starbucks’ scanners at the University Library were upgraded in
late July. They now have the ability to scan gift card codes on
mobile devices.

10
Campus Center Marketplace ...
Coming this fall, Campus Center Marketplace is introducing several new and
exciting additions.
First, a Jamba Smoothie Station is making its debut next to Fresh Escape
and will offer eight refreshing flavors. This station will be a mini version of
the Jamba Juice that will be installed next year in the new Bronco Recreation
and Intramural Complex (BRIC).
In addition, the “We Proudly Serve” (WPS) Starbucks concept will be
introduced at International Grounds, located next to Pony Express. The WPS
program is an abridged version of Starbucks’ most popular hot and cold beverages, including five Frappuccino
flavors.
Taco Bell already serves the Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, but coming this fall, they will
complete the trio by adding the new Fiery Doritos Locos Taco. Additionally, they are upgrading their menu to
include shredded chicken, the new Smothered Burrito, and Meximelt.
Lastly, Carl’s Jr. will now have freshly baked hamburger buns for their $6.00 burger line.
Be sure to stop by Campus Center Marketplace to experience the many new flavors!
Round Table Pizza ...
Round Table Pizza guests will experience a whole new level of comfort this fall
with the installation of booth seating.
The decision to install booths was based on the Bronco Student Center (BSC)
space study and Dining Services’ NACUFS satisfaction survey which were
conducted late last year.
Guests will not only get extra comfort when they dine at Round Table Pizza, but
they will also be treated to two 50” high-definition televisions (Are you ready for
some football!?).
Last but not least, in order to speed up service, fountain beverages will be
changed to a self-serve station.

Three Buildings Scheduled for Painting
The real estate department has taken on three exterior
paint projects—Building 66 (Bronco Bookstore), Building 55
(Foundation), and CTTi at Innovation Village. All were budgeted
in the capital budget for exterior paint.
Building 66 and 55 are going to somewhat change their
existing color with the addition of an accent color that was not
previously in place.
Painting on Building 66 started in late August.
Painting has already begun on Building 66. However, before
painting begins on Building 55, the vicinity will first be treated
for termites and any damaged wood will be replaced.
CTTi will be painted to better blend with the color palette used with Southern California Edison’s two
buildings and will include exterior deck repair and coating.
We utilized Vista Paint to create the specifications and use their inspection services at no additional
cost to the Foundation.
75th Anniversary T-Shirt to be Released During
Hot Dog Caper
The Bronco Bookstore will begin selling the winning 75th anniversary t-shirt on the day of the 30th
Annual Hot Dog Caper.
In celebration of Cal Poly Pomona’s 75th anniversary, the university recently hosted a t-shirt design
contest. The winning t-shirt, created by international business and marketing junior Corey Armend,
is a classic design featuring a large “75th” encircled by a string of maple leaves with the years
1938-2013.
Be sure to stop by the bookstore this fall and pick up a shirt in honor of the university’s 75th
anniversary!

Los Olivos’ Winning Entry on Display
Los Olivos was recently recognized by the National
Association of College and University Food
Services (NACUFS) for the 2013 Loyal E. Horton
Dining Awards. Their winning entry is currently on
display in Building 55.
In mid-July, several Dining Services personnel
traveled to Minneapolis for the NACUFS national
conference to accept the prestigious award.
Los Olivos entered under the “Residential Dining
Concepts” category, which was open to all-youcan-eat campus facilities.
Applicants were required to focus on a number of
topics, including the facility’s menu, merchandising
and presentation, marketing habits, nutrition
and wellness, student roles, and sustainability.
Applicants had to send a comprehensive book
filled with detailed descriptions, examples,
photographs, and marketing materials. Los Olivos
personnel and the CPPF marketing department
worked on the project for over a month.
Please stop by the Foundation Building to take a
look at Los Olivos’ winning entry!
