Subject teachers must submit a budget for the purchase of books.
The books are then ordered by the clerk in the bookstore and delivered at the
bookstore.
The books are stamped and placed on a stock register.
Books are then issued to the subject teachers, as necessary.
The subject teacher withdraws only the number of books needed.
The subject teacher must number each book, e.g. 1, 2, 3, etc. and then record in the
register, which learner received which specific book.
The learner must sign for the receipt of the book and is responsible for that specific
book for the rest of the year.
At the end of the year the subject teacher is responsible to take in the books again.
Every learner must (as far as possible) sign that he/she has handed in the book.
If the book is lost, the clerk at the bookstore must send the parents an account,
receive the money, issue a receipt and order a new book (if necessary).
The teacher keeps the books in his/her class until the next year. If a teacher doesn’t
teach the same subjects, the textbooks must be returned to the bookstore, where
they will be issued to the new teacher. Therefore the teacher cannot hand over the
books to the new teacher; it must be done through the bookstore.
A copy of each “old” textbook written off, must be kept in the library and the class for
possible future use.
All textbook registers will be checked during the annual stocktake.
