Profile School serves the towns of Bethlehem,
Franconia, Easton, and Sugar Hill. A rural area
located in the heart of the White Mountains, this
region of New Hampshire is a well known
recreational area with three major ski areas nearby
and the White Mountain National Forest and
Franconia Notch State Park within the school district
boundaries. Profile has a student population of 260
students in grades 7 through 12. This year’s senior
class has 43 students. Profile has a student/faculty
ratio of 9 to 1. The school operates on an alternating
A/E block schedule in which courses meet every
other day for 78-minute periods. Profile is in its third
year of implementing a 40-minute activity period
with three days a week devoted to academic
enrichment or remediation. The other two days are
designated for the teacher advisory program/
community meeting and school-wide activities. This
schedule allows students to take up to 8 classes and
gain the advantage of both extended class time and
full year courses.

Grading System
Profile School offers six AP courses: Biology,
English Literature, English Language, Calculus A/B,
Statistics, and European History. The following
courses have been designated as honors courses:
English 9 Honors, American Studies, English 11
Honors, Honors Geometry, Advanced Math,
Accelerated Physical Science, and World History
Honors.
Students at Profile School receive numerical grades
based on a scale of 100. The grade point average is
figured on a 4.0 scale and is weighted based on course
levels.
Class Rank
Class rank is determined by a quality point system and
is weighted. The higher the level, the more points
awarded for the same grade. AP courses carry an additional point above level one classes. Honors and
advanced courses carry an additional 1/2 point above
level one classes. College Preparatory classes carry
an additional 1/4 point above level one classes. General education courses (level 1) carry no additional
weight.
