Duchesne Academy, as part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, offers a rigorous curriculum which draws on the natural curiosity and ability of students to help them experience a love of learning. We focus on the whole child--intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social and physical. Our goals and curriculum are strongly rooted in the Catholic doctrine. Our student population includes girls from many nationalities and religious denominations with currently 41% diversity. This diversity adds a rich dimension to our learning environment. Over $1 million in tuition assistance was distributed to 15.3% of the student body. Duchesne Academy emphasizes STEM education and offers a myriad of co-curricular activities and programs, including an award winning national robotics team. Head of Lower School Ginger Montalbano ginger.montalbano@duchesne.org Dean of Academics and Counseling Abigail Doheny abigail.doheny@duchesne.org Director of College Placement Pam Pratt-Galik pam.pratt-galik@duchesne.org Director of Admissions Shakti Dalal shakti.dalal@duchesne.org Accreditation Duchesne Academy is accredited by the State of Texas through the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (T.C.C.E.D.), Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (I.S.A.S.) and by the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. Grading Scale In September 1960, Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart opened its doors to the first group of 52 girls on what had been the 15-acre Bering family estate. The next 50 years would be years of meeting challenges and providing students an institution that both retains its character and sets the standard in areas of academics and facilities. Today, the original number of 52 students has grown to approximately 680 and the initial three grades of 7, 8 and 9 have grown to pre-kindergarten through grade 12. While Duchesne still boasts many pine trees and a sense of seclusion in the Memorial area, it has become a 21st century school firmly rooted in 200 year old Sacred Heart values. Duchesne has a total of approximately 230 young women in grades 9-12. Admission is based on the ISEE test, a personal interview and school/teacher recommendations.
