TO VILLAGE WINES
We are fully independent, family owned, wine merchants. As our existing customers are aware, we are constantly striving to offer diversity, choice and above all,
value for money without compromising our quality. To advance this objective
we deal, as much as possible on a personal basis, with independent winemakers
who bring a welcome individuality to their wines and winemaking, often using
organic practices. Many of the wines are imported directly by us, from small
estates and vineyards that are not generally available through any major retail outlet. We like to think we are passionate about wine and this underlines our entire
approach detailed product knowledge, jargon free advice and personal service.
This may seem a novel approach in the world of modem retailing but we like to
think it makes a difference to you, the customer.

Anyone who does the sums involved in bottling, freight, insurance and duty on the one hand and the cost of wine on the
other steers well clear of the lower end of the bargain basement. A poor wine is dear at any price. We have been very
careful to choose a range of wines suitable for every day drinking that justify their prices, meet a consistent high quality
and are representative of their region.
The three wines from Claude Serra (nos; 003, 011 and 019) are of particular interest When we first encountered these
wines we were very impressed with the quality and what great value for money they were. It came as no great surprise to
leam that Claude Serra, the winemaker; has been a professor at the Montpellier University of Oenology for more than 15
years and is something of an eminence in the Languedoc. Whilst Claude has trained many of the "Rising Stars" of this
region most of his energies are devoted to the pursuit of excellence of his own value for money range of wines.

FINE BORDEAUX WINES
This range of wines reflects, we believe, the outstanding quality and value for money that only direct importing of
Chateau Baffled wines can achieve. Many of the chateaux are small family run vineyards where great care has
been taken to create high quality complex wines typical of their Appellation. Further to this we have included in
our range a selection of Grand Cru Classe and value for money 2nd wines. Often the only difference between
the 1st and second wines produced by a Grand Cru Classe Chateau is the age of the vines, in some instances it
is a separate property under the same ownership. We have been fortunate to have been able to have secured
some older interesting vintages. It is very important to us to capture the individual styles of the many small
regions that collectively make up Bordeaux. This individuality is almost impossible to achieve when dealing with a
co-operative or large producer.

From her chic appearance and quietly spoken manner, it is easier to imagine Anne Hugues owner of Domaine de
la Royere in her former guise of museum curator than vigneron. Focusing on blends of traditional grape varieties
such as Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre, Anne's philosophy is simple; low yields equal concentration of flavour.
Concentration of flavour is very much the style of the Domaine, this combined with the very high quality of wine
making has led to many accolades from the likes of Decanter Magazine. We were certainly amazed to find that
these wines were not already imported into the U. K. and were very glad that we had found Anne first.

This is where an arrangement is made between
a retired vineyard owner and a team of winemakers.
The winemakers have no interest in the property on the estate, their only concern is to rent top quality land to
grow the best possible grapes to make wines of the highest calibre.

She is a scientist, a good cook and a self confessed tom boy yet Diane Losfelt along with her sister, Constance,
who is best described as a bundle of infectious enthusiasm, produce a superb range, including a top draw rose, of
elegant feminine wines.
The dynamic duo count themselves among the band of oessionete winemakers
transforming this region of France. Prestigious publications such as the "Hachette Guide" would seem to agree.

There are many German wines on the market and most of them serve as an excellent introduction to the joys of wine drinking,
being light, medium dry, and low in alcohol but nothing more. What is not generally appreciated is that Germany also
produces fine wines and, with a few exceptions, these are hard to come by. We are fortunate to have discovered a range of
wines produced by the Sebastiani family at Mehring, which is between Bemkastel and Traben-Trabach on the Mosel. The
Sebastianis own approximately 10 acres of vineyards. They self only wine from these vineyards many of which are dry in
style. Tile care that they take and the experience that they have gained since 1300, when their family first settled in Mehring
is reflected in the magnificent wines they produce. Remember we do not choose our German wines on price, but
recommend them on quality.

Only 12% of German Wine production is red wines, and this is generally consumed by the domestic market. The
subject of red German wine has become something of a specialist field for Village Wines. We have been very
fortunate to have found Weinke/ler Leininger/and, a small winery in the town of Grunstadt, just outside
Heidelberg. Their wines are of the highest quality, winning many awards.
The grapes used mainly are Dornfelder and Spatburgunder, (the German version of the Burgundy grape Pinot
Noir) producing wines that are refreshing, often light and show more of a medium fruity than tannic acidity. Try

Our Chilean range is full of great wines at great prices from great estates. No bulk wine here, Ventisquero have
built a brand new carbon zero foot print state of the art winery. Their vineyards are 100% estate owned all of
which are costal cool climate. Their impressive wine making team is headed by ex Penfold's (Australia's most
prestigious estate) chiefwinemaker "John Duval".
The Lapostolle estate was founded in 1994 by French families Mamier (owners of Grand Marnier) and
Lapostolle from Sancerre. Their motto "French in essence, Chilean by birth" sums up the style of this prestigious
estate perfectly.

POLICY AND TERMS/CONDITIONS CONCERNING NATlONAL DELIVERY SERVICE
POLICY
The parcel is collected from Village Wines
The Courier driver attempts delivery, no one is home, a failed delivery card will be left at tl'leQremises.
The Courier driver will automatically re-attempt the delivery. If again there is no one at home, then another card
will be left.
If unsuccessful on day 3 the consignment is returned to the depot where it is k~t in safe stora_gefor two days.
After this time if the courier has not heard from the recipient, Vinage Wines will be contacted for further instructions.
We will contact you for further information, This may result in the consignment being returned.
AT ANY TIME DURING THIS PROCESS THE RECIPIENT CAN COLLECT THE PARCEL FROM THE LOCAL COURIER'S
DEPOT IF THEY SO WISH.
Please advise in writing if it is acceptable to leave consignment with a neighbour or at a designated place e.g. garden sheet
Village Wines shall not be held liable for 10S5 or damage to unsigned consignments.
TERMS
If Village Wines are charged by the courier for consignments returned to them under the above policy. Village
Wines reserve the right to pass this charge on to customers whose conslqnments, regardless of the reasons,
have been returned. (This is based on the understanding that the courier has complied with the above policv.)

Returned items will be charged for redelivery at the above rates on the instruct.on of the customer.
, HELP US TO HELP YOU - To reduce the risk of return charges please note the following points:A Please supply typed not hand written instructions
B Please insure all addresses are correct, current and complete with post codes
C Wherever possible please supply telephone numbers (including mobiles) and E-mail addresses of recipient.
D Where feasible please advise recipients to immediately respond to the failed delivery card and liaise with the
courier company's depot to arrange successful receipt of goods
E Please do not attempt to instruct delivery where recipients are known to be away.

Wines will be dispatched for safety (unless otherwise instructed) in the appropriate TRANSIT PACK Please see
postal approved packs (page 17).

IMPORTANT: TERMS AND CONDITIONS PACKING
In nearly all cases, if requested, the making up and filling of the gift packs will be carried out FREE OF CHARGE
Oepending on the size of the order against the packing time involved and where numerous courier conSignment
notes require completing a charge for packing may apply.
Depending on the amount of time involved to complete the task, a charge may be applied to cover the cost of
Village. Wines' writing greeting cards etc for customers -greetings cards and tags can be supplied at extra cost.
Should a charge regarding points 2 or 3 need to be applied, a verbal quote will be given prior to the commencing
of the order. Written quotations will only be given on request.

Goods listed in the Village Wines Hamper brochure are exempt of packing charges
