Expansion: Creation, Fall, Flood, Tower of Babel
Story Line: Adam is created by God, but he sins and destroys God’s original plan for
man.
1. Creation (Gen 1-2) Man created in the image of God
1. God creates the heavens and the earth
2. God fills the heavens and earth good things
3. God creates mankind in His image; not physical, but personal and spiritual.
2. Fall (Gen 3) Fall of Man
1. Satan tempts Eve to violate the one prohibition God gave man, not to eat from
the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
2. Adam and Eve choose to rebel against God and eat the fruit.
3. Sin enters the world - this is the “Fall of Man”
3. Flood (Gen 6-10) Judgement for sin
1. Fallen man populates the earth over the next several hundred years.
2. Sin reaches a pinocle level.
3. God finds the last eight righteous people on earth: Noah, his wife, his three sons,
and their wives.
4. God instructs Noah to build an ark.
5. As judgement for sin God destroys all mankind with a global flood, saving only
the eight people noted above.
4. Tower of Babel (Gen 11) Beginning of the nations
1. After the flood God commands the people to spread out subdue the earth.
2. In direct disobedience to God, the people stay together and begin building a
tower as a monument to himself.
3. God causes groups in this huge congregation to begin speaking to different
languages. This is the beginning of the nations.
