POSITION SUMMARY
To provide administrative, technical and project support services to the Operations Department.
To provide timely and efficient support for the delivery of programs, strategic objectives and
projects of the Operations Department.

design.
Qualifications and/or Training:

Diploma of Engineer and Mine Surveying or similar survey and design qualification.
Working towards qualifications such as Diploma in Public Works.
Hold a current “C” class Motor Driver’s License.
The Council actively promotes self-improvement within its workforce and membership of
appropriate Institutes.
Attendance at conferences, seminars and workshops is encouraged.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage the asset management activities with regards to roads, drainage, footpaths,
bridges, other infrastructure and parks and gardens.
Maintain and update Council’s Road Asset Management system, including ROMAN II
and other asset management records.
Utilise ROMAN II to provide reports and interpretations on Council’s current and predicted
road conditions and valuations.
Complete feature and as-constructed surveys including production of civil engineering
drawings.
Provide quantity estimations for Shire projects utilising survey equipment and civil design
software.
Administer the preparation of applications, progress reports, acquittals and completion
certificates for State and Commonwealth Government Grants and other road funding
programs for engineering associated works.
Assist in the preparation of budget estimates and work schedules for each of the
Infrastructure Department’s approved activities.
Administer the tendering of goods, services, plant and equipment within the Infrastructure
Department.
Coordinate and supervise minor capital works projects and the calling of quotes and
tenders, as directed by the Executive Manager Infrastructure.
Provide administration in relation to permits, approvals, leases and agreements relevant
to the Infrastructure Department.
Administer the Shire’s Occupational Health and Safety functions
Assist in answering correspondence to the Shire on matters relating to infrastructure eg
design / construction works, public utilities, government departments, crossovers, street
verges and land acquisition.
Maintain stock of drafting consumables.
Administer the Shire of Gingin’s Local Laws relating to the Operations Department.
Liaise with Schools in relation to school bus routes.
Sound knowledge of Metrocount traffic counter set-up, installation and download
techniques
Other administrative and project functions that are relevant to the Operations Department
and as directed by the Executive Manager Operations.

Understanding of Roads to Recovery format plus Regional Road Group process.
Sound knowledge of civil / municipal engineering design and construction techniques.

Developed verbal and written communication skills.
Able to prepare tenders for projects and plant replacement.
Prepare minor reports for Council.
Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
Working towards a minimum Diploma qualification in the engineering field or relevant
experience preferable in a municipal engineering environment.
