What is Packet Tracer?
ƒ Packet Tracer is a simulation software that can be used
to simulate the behavior of real networking equipment:
– A Router (Several models)
– A Hub or Switch (Several models)
– A WAN cloud
– A PC/Server/Printer
– And even… A Wireless Access Point or an IP Telephone
ƒ It allows users to create network topologies, configure
devices, inject packets, and simulate the network in
multiple visual representations.

Quotes
“I would just like to inform you. As you know we had a few problems receiving our
equipment. We had to make a few plans getting through the curriculum’s practical
without it, and I must tell you that packet tracer work wonderful.
I gave packet tracer to the students as a download through our server, and they
jumped for the occasion. I did one small example on the data projector with them,
showing them the ins and outs of the program, and they were off by themselves.
I gave them a few examples and exercises to go through with packet tracer where
I gave them the answers in the end, and finally they had to do their case study as
well as there practical final on packet tracer. They thoroughly enjoyed it, and now
feel that they did work on equipment, even though they did not. And like they say,
its like taking the equipment home with them.
So I would just like to thank Cisco for this great product, without it I would really
have been left in the cold. Students were now able to finish CCNA 2 without
equipment, and still know a lot of the equipment.
Luckily our equipment did arrive at last, but I would definitely not stop using Packet
Tracer, for it works wonders. I cannot wait for the new release to come out!!!!!!!
I just want to end with a big THANK YOU CISCO!!! (I am not sure who is
responsible for the program but BIG thumbs UP to him!!!!)”
Regards,
Debbie Schulenburg
