School of Communication The Florida State University REQUIREMENTS FOR A MINOR IN COMMUNICATION The School of Communication offers a minor in Communication on a space available basis only. The minor consists of twelve (12) semester hours in Communication courses selected from the following courses: ADV 3008 ADV 3352 ADV 3410 COM 3332 COM 3483 COM 3930 COM 3420/4420 MMC 2000 PUR 3000 RTV 3001 SPC 3210 Principles of Advertising Mass Media Law Hispanic Marketing Communication New Communication Technology Reel Legal Special Topics in Communication Media, Culture & the Environment Introduction to Mass Media Introduction to Public Relations Media Techniques Contemporary Human Communication 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 Only coursework with a grade of "C-" or above in these courses will count toward the minor. Credit earned in meeting the OCCR (Oral Communication Competency Requirement) may not be used to satisfy the minor. At least six (6) hours of the Communication minor must be taken with School of Communication at the Florida State University. Courses taken to meet the minor are not applicable to any other requirement You do not have to complete any paperwork to begin working on a Communication minor, and the School does not provide a certificate of completion. It is the responsibility of your major to verify that you have completed the minor.
