Provides outpatient counseling for those who have been raped.
Accredited as child advocacy center.
No fee.
Will return Nelson County residents to counselors who practice
in Nelson County and will see the resident free of charge. This
is a non-profit organization funded by federal, state, grants so
that they can offer their services at no cost.
Also presents the Via Colori Festival annually as a fundraiser.
This is a modern day expression of a centuries-old art form where
more than 50 artists gather to create their art directly on the pavement.
It is a celebration of creativity. All proceeds go to the Advocacy
& Support Center for the assistance of those in distress.

Has several programs to assist those with fixed incomes,
low incomes, etc. in getting hearing aids as reduced price.
“Hear Now” - application process whereby qualified persons
receive refurbished hearing aids at $100.00 for each one.
Monies must be sent at time of application with no refund.
Hearing tests are billed to insurance. Medicare pays for one
hearing test in a lifetime. KATLC is a state-run program
which assists people who are on disability by paying for
both test and hearing aids. Care Credit is a finance company
that will grant an 18 month loan with no interest for the
purchase of hearing aids - anything over 18 months is at 11%
interest. Vocational Rehabilitation will pay all the cost if the
person is working and needs hearing aids in order to continue
to work. This is also a state-run program.

This is a family camp program offered by Hosparus
Counseling Center. Held at Loucon Training and
Retreat Center near Leitchfield, Ky., this is a week end
program for families and children who are grieving the
loss of a family member. A first of its kind in Kentucky,

families in time of need. It is separated into two divisions:
Family Support Division
Deals with food stamps, aid to dependent children, and
medical cards primarily. Also includes programs like:

Passport ( a program to assist with medications)
KTAP( designed to help single parents with young children
in the home). Financial guidelines must be met. Includes income

1. Agriculture & Natural Resources

cattle farmers with issues related to their livelihood.
It encompasses soil tests (free), shared cost in soil

erosion and water quality programs, genetics improvements and cattle handling facilities program; a shared
cost (50/50) related to insemination and raising cattle.
Among other programs offered are pesticide training,
crop disaster, livestock compensation, and environmental
quality incentive, and tobacco programs as well. The
Extension Office provides educational programs for beef,
swine, and grain producers.
2. Family & Consumer Science

This section works to improve the quality of life for both
the individual and the family. It focuses on economics,
social, and physical well-being. It specializes in projects
that affect the quality of life for Kentucky. There is an
extensive homemaker club network involving eight
different groups each of which is very active in programs
that strengthen the family life in Nelson County. These
clubs then reach out to support other facets of the extended community.
3. 4-H Youth Development

This section deals with the Youth of the community. Using
the 4-H motto of Head, Heart, Hand, and Health, it strives
to assist the youth with clearer thinking, greater loyalty,
larger service, and better living for the club, the community,
the country, and the world. To do this, they involve the youth
in a wide variety of programs and contests. Some of these
include: poetry contests, poster contests, good record keeping,
and outings throughout the year. There are classes in health
and safety issues, CPR, babysitting, First Aid, water safety,
and bike safety. A 4-H camp is offered which is a week long.
A Kentucky 4-H Summit which is a three day event for 6th-8th
grade is also offered with the focus of developing good leadership skills. Major fundraiser: Candy sale.
4. Horticulture

of gardening. It involves training master gardeners who will, in
turn, teach others in the art and science of gardening. This section
sponsors the Blooming Bardstown Garden Tour, the
Downtown Bardstown Beautification Project, the

the public about home insect control, lawn care, the
production of home vegetables and fruit, tree and shrub
information. Sponsors the Kentucky Wine Festival which
highlights the young wine and grape growing industry in
Kentucky.

and are overseen by either a psychiatrist or addictionologist. The Willows Program is for
adolescent females ages 9 -17 who are sexually reactive. The length of stay in this
program is 6 – 9 months. Lincoln Trail is available 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week to
inquire about services or to make a referral. Most commercial insurances, Medicaid,
Medicare and Tricare are accepted.
LTBHS also has an outpatient clinic in Radcliff for children, adolescents and adults
needing traditional outpatient services for psychiatric issues. Along with therapy services
provided by Licensed Therapists, medication management is also available through our
psychiatrist.

Court appointed system collaborates with social services,

problems involved which have resulted in a court hearing.
CASA is a nonprofit organization, funded by United Way
of Nelson County and assists children between the ages of
birth to 18. Volunteers who are appointed to the case must
be 21, a legal resident of Nelson County, and go through both
a strict screening process and training. CASA’s aim is not to
remove the child from the home environment, but rather to
work in a collaborative effort with other agencies to address the
problems which have been identified in the home. CASA is
affiliated with Kentucky State CASA and is in total compliance
with the National CASA and Kentucky State CASA..

for the members of Nelson County Industries who
choose to participate in Special Olympics activities.
Fundraisers are occasional yard sales, and an annual
dinner the 1st Wednesday in December to honor the

Homestead Exemption whereby those 65 and older, and those
