She will review the latest research on Asperger’s Disorder and the way it impacts people from early childhood to adult years. Dr. Jenkins is the Medical Director, Consulting Psychiatrist, and owner and CEO of Bluestem Center for Children and Family Development in Rochester, Minnesota. Discussion will include suicide and co-occurring disorders. The results of the impact that mental illness has on the person, their families and our communities is significant. Kay will also talk about available treatments and resources for families and for those living with the illness. Oftentimes youth with ODD will have other issues that accompany the disorder. ADD is one of them. The combination of ODD and ADD presents many challenges to parents and teachers. Dr. Hittner will discuss how these disorders interact and what techniques can be used to help the youth gain control of their behaviors.
