Activity Laboratory Assignments
15%
Activity Laboratory assignments reinforce the topic of the unit, and are listed below. Under each
activity assignment there may be several individual labs that must be completed. Most labs are included in
the textbook. However, there are several that will be completed in class. Students will be directed to go to
my website to print specified labs or the instructor will provide them in class. The student will bring to class
the printed lab sheet on the specified date. The lab grade is an “all or nothing” grade. All labs must be
completed in order to have the potential to receive the full 15% lab grade. It is not a “pick and choose which
lab I want to complete” grade option. Please read lab instructions carefully; labs completed incorrectly will
not receive full credit. Lab assignments and due dates will be made in class; however, make sure to look at
the following tentative schedule. Labs are expected to be completed at the beginning of the specified class,
and WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE. Below is a tentative schedule of lab assignments.

covers all material covered within the Chapter Unit; I.e., PowerPoint presentations, reading assignments,
website assignments, laboratory assignments, podcasts, etc. You are answering the questions with no
assistance, just as you would during a testing period for an on-site course.
The Midterm Exam covers Chapters 1, 2, 3and 4, and will be available online. The exam will be available
beginning March 11th, at 9:00 a.m., and closing deadline will be March 24th, at 11:59 a.m. No make-up
exams are allowed.
The Final Exam covers Chapters 5,6,7,8 and 9, and will be available online beginning May 8th 2013, at 9:00
a.m., and closing deadline will be May 15th , 2013, at 11:59 pm. No make-up exams are allowed.
Discussions
5%
Students will have the opportunity to participate in 5 discussion postings during the semester. Each
posting is worth 1 point. Discussion postings can be found by clicking on the Discussions tool to the left of
the homepage. Read the question and post a response. It is not necessary to send your response via email. Most postings will require you to read articles, listen to podcasts, and/or watch videos. All students
can read your posted responses in the Discussions icon, so be sure to review the netiquette rules for
posting discussions under the orientation icon inside Blackboard. There are 3 requirements in order to
receive full credit for your posting: (1) your answer must be specific to the topic; (2) must be thorough and
defend your position; and (3) must reference the material you read, heard, or watched. Discussions are
available at 9am and due at 9am.

This hybrid course is designed to meet every Wednesday to accomplish lab activities. All other
academic information (reading assignments, quizzes, discussions, exams, etc.) will be on-line. The class
structure is designed to allow for active participation by each student. If you attend class, you are required
to participate. Lack of effort, enthusiasm, or desire to improve, will result in a deduction from the attendance
grade. Do not attend class if you are not prepared to participate.
Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class and you will be expected to sign the attendance
sheet at that time. If you arrive to class one to 10 minutes beyond the scheduled starting time, you will be
marked tardy. Three (3) tardies result in one (1) absence. The sign-in sheet is taken up at that time, and
arrival any time beyond the ten (10) minute tardy time, you will be marked absent.
In order to receive attendance credit for the day, you must stay for the entire class. If for any reason
you leave and do not finish the allotted time period, you will be marked absent for the entire class period.
A total of 20 points may be earned for attendance and punctuality during the course of the
semester. As per Collin’s Physical Education’s activity attendance policy, classes that meet on-site one (1)
time a week will have one (1) “free” on-site absence. This absence may be used at the student’s discretion.
Thereafter, absences numbers two (2) and three (3) will result in 5 points each being deducted from the 20
point total. With the fourth absence, regardless of make-ups, the student will not receive credit for the class
and will receive a grade of “F.” In addition, the student will have the opportunity to make up one (1) on-site
absence. Please see the instructor to schedule a time and day. Make-up deadline is May 5th , 2013.
On-site absences will be reconciled at the end of the semester.
You may repeat this course only once after receiving a grade, including a W “Withdrawal” grade.

Daily Sign-in Policy
Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class, and you will be expected to sign the
attendance sheet at that time. Upon entering the classroom, sign the attendance sheet. You are
allowed to sign in only when you are ready to begin class. When class time begins, a “tardy line”
will be marked, and all names below the tardy line will be counted late.
Tardy Policy
Class begins promptly at the scheduled time. If you arrive 1-10 minutes after scheduled class time,
you will receive a tardy. After that time, the sign-in sheet will be taken up, and the student will be counted
absent for that class period. Three (3) tardies will equal one (1) absence.
