The Beginning…
Upon completion of
the vocab review, this
class will work on practice
SOL writing prompts to
prepare themselves for
hopefully, a well-written
essay when it comes to
testing for the SOL next
week. The substitute will
work with the students,
along with the inclusion
teacher during the 4th
block.
The A-Day students will
their work on language
skills in order to begin
preparing for the writing
SOL which will be in the
spring. As they prepare
for the first benchmark
which will cover writing
skills, we shall begin with
the most basic: capitalization which the substitute
will cover today…
The Substitute will
cover work during this
period for my absence.
Students will work on
“The Pardoner’s Tale”
in class. They will read
it, summarize the work
on each page, and then
answer the questions.
Sub has been given full
details for this work.
They will be reminded of
vocabulary for
tomorrow.

also tweak the focus of the work
for students as the week
unfolds…

unit #5 on today. Same
expectation to do well will
be emphasized. However,
even as I have spent last

assurance to study, students must take it to heart
if they are going to be prepared. As with the previvous vocabulary, (below)

endeavor.
The 4X4 class will continue to
work on SOL practical application in preparation for the actual
SOL testing next Tuesday and
Wednesday. They will work on
continued practice on the essay.
I cannot emphasize enough that
given the behavioral issues of
some: the distractions and inability or unwillingness to follow
through on assignments will
greatly affect a few of these
students’ overall performance if
they do not settle in.

testing for unit #5 for the
Adv. English 12 class.
The students will be
expected to take on very
challenging work in order
to prepare for whatever
testing and as seniors with
college apps on their
radar.
Upon completion of this
testing, they will complete
the background to unit 6.
The class today will work on
the second Canterbury tale: “The
Wife of Bath” as several of the
class members will be engaged
in the National Honor Society
Induction ceremony. Congrats
to all of these conscientious
students and their achievements.
The remainder will work to paraphrase each section of the tale
and be prepared to discuss in

[Good work is occurring with
the PRISMS…]
Good news on last week’s Benchmark. The 4X4 students were successful in that all passed proficient while
four passed advanced. It is hopeful
that these results will prove sufficient
as they prepare to do the actual test
next week.
Today, I will follow up with an
online practice of basic language skills
and writing essentials by using the
released 2015 spring writing test from
the Department of Education.
These students will also be reminded
