Tuxedo Union Free School District
11 Hillside Avenue Tuxedo, NY 10987
Welcome to the 2015/2016 School Year!
The PTO is a group of Tuxedo School District parents and teachers whose goal is to aid the students of George Grant
Mason and George F. Baker schools in achieving their fullest potential by providing educational and personal enrichment,
and by encouraging the cooperative interaction of parents, teachers, and the community.
All parents or guardians of children enrolled in the Tuxedo Union Free School District are eligible to be a member of the
Tuxedo PTO.
The PTO is comprised solely of parent and teacher volunteers committed to uphold our Mission:
 To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school and community.
 To strengthen the relationship of home and school so that parents and teachers may work
cooperatively in the education process.
 To enhance the education facilities and opportunities for the students of the Tuxedo School
District which are not otherwise provided for in the school budget.
 Provide support to students and people in our surrounding community who may be in need.
In addition, it is our mission to facilitate parents and teachers to work together to provide our children with the
extraordinary educational experience they so deserve.

How does the PTO fund Activities?
With the wonderful support of parents like YOU! Our funds come from a combination of several fundraising efforts:
Restaurant Nights: A night is selected and school community members are invited to eat at the restaurant during a set
time period, such as between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The restaurant agrees to donate to the PTO a percentage of the
proceeds generated by the school’s families and friends. We will be choosing one restaurant for each month of the year
for you to take advantage of.
Box Tops for Education: GGM, receives 10 cents for each box top collected. Box Tops can be sent into school with your
child - there is a collection box in every classroom.
“It takes a village to raise a child”…thanks for supporting ours!
Target: Every time you use your Target Card, Target donates a percentage of your sales to our school. Just "assign" your
Target Redcard to George Grant Mason or George F. Baker to participate.
Events & Fundraisers
Back-To-School Carnival: A fun carnival event including, bake sale, games gallery, inflatables, and food!!
Scholastic Book Fair (twice a year): An excellent selection of Scholastic Books available for sale, and percentage of
sales, based on our total sales, in given back to the school.
Spirit Wear Fundraiser (twice a year): A successful fundraiser, and a great way to show your school spirit!
Annual Fundraiser Benefit Event: We've found that some prefer to just donate directly to the school PTO so that all the
money is going into the PTO rather than some portion to the fundraising organization. Therefore once a year we put
together a great evening out of great food, and entertainment, fundraising, raffles and auctions. Fun for all.
Why Join The PTO?
It’s actually FUN!
Think you don’t have enough time? Don’t really know a lot of other parents? Think you won’t make a difference? Parent
volunteers are an essential part of what makes our PTO programs successful. Participating in PTO activities is not just
more work; it is a great way to connect with other parents, teachers, and students. Even giving just a few hours of your
time in a school year can make a HUGE difference. And makes the kids HAPPY!
How does the PTO decide what to do?
Through our meetings! We meet once a month, on the first Thursday of each month, at 7 pm in the GGM Multipurpose
Room. Parents, teachers and staff bring ideas and requests to these meetings where we discuss them and then vote on
them.
