Follow-up/Discussion: N/A Committee Action: APPROVED AS SUBSTANTIVE NEW BUSINESS Items 1 – 3 The Curriculum Committee was asked for feedback on development of new programs and time frames for building enrollments, as well as what defines a major curriculum change. The following are some comments: 1. What is the time frame for building enrollment for new programs before the programs undergo review by Academic Services? The committee agreed that this time frame should be five years, aligning with the years in which academic audits are done. 2. How do we define a major change in curriculum? The committee agreed that a change from a career program to transfer (or vise versa) is indeed a major change in curriculum. 3. What is the time frame for building enrollment in programs with major curriculum changes before the programs undergo review by Academic Services? Much discussion ensued over this issue. The committee feels that divisions do look at their programs often enough (not just every five years, it is a constant to make revisions as needed). So, sometime during the first five years of a program (after three years), if enrollment is low, it should be the responsibility of the faculty member who runs the program to make necessary changes in order to save the program. 4.
