Monologue Rant Assignment March/April 2015 Purpose of the Assignment: You are to create a monologue on behalf of a character from a fairy tale in which the monologue is designed to passionately inform your audience of an injustice which has occurred (to your character). You should not be re-telling a fairy tale, twist/alter it so as to make it unique – just don’t forget – the whole purpose of the monologue is to let the public know that a grave injustice has occurred AND to showcase your excellent use of monologue presentation skills. Written Piece: You must use: imagery, persuasive language, a great hook and button closing, other literary terms and this must all be done so that the words effectively establish the right mood! Your voice as a writer will be evaluated for having established a great purpose for the rant (injustice) and you’ve twisted the fairy tale in an organic and creative way. Spelling, grammar, punctuation and improvements based on editing will also be graded.
