Español II (Dr. Gallardo): Midterm Study Guide Your midterm exam will consist of 3 parts: 1. Reading & listening (multiple choice, on a laptop), 50% 2. CPA, oral: 25% 3. CPA, written: 25% TIPS FOR LISTENING/READING Read the instructions. Read the instructions. Read the instructions. Focus on the words that are familiar to you (you don’t need to understand every word you read/hear to answer the questions!) Look at the picture or graph, if there is one TIPS FOR CPA, WRITTEN You will receive a set of instructions to guide you Read the instructions. Read the instructions. Read the instructions. Write only in Spanish. If you can’t write an idea in Spanish using the vocabulary we studied, write a different idea! Proofread your composition (careful with spellings and adjectives) TIPS FOR CPA, ORAL You will have a moment to prepare, and then have a short conversation in Spanish with Dr. Gallardo Speak only in Spanish, and listen to what the other person says! PRACTICE YOUR WRITING BY WRITING: Come up with short sentences off the top of your head and write them on a blank sheet of paper. Check that you spelled everything correctly. The more you do this, the better. Practice your speaking by speaking: Come up with short sentences and actually say them out loud. Even if you know everything “in your head,” say it out loud when you study. For the midterm you will use the material we practiced in class (in the games and activities): Have fun with it! STUDY PREPARATION Make sure to review the following: Classroom rules (se permite / se prohíbe / hay que) Comparisons with tan / tanto como Comparisons with más / menos que Ser vs. estar Saber vs. conocer Extracurricular activities, sports and clubs at school Daily routine & preparation for special events Describe things you bought (like clothing) Vocabulary 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, “La Ropa” and the “Powerpack” video And make sure to review the grammar we’ve covered thus far: Regular –ar, -er & -ir verbs Yo-go verbs (e.g. tener tengo) Stem-changing verbs (eie; ou; ei; oue) Reflexivos Expressions with “Hace ______ que [verb]” (e.g. Hace tres días que estudio español) Adjetivos demostrativos (este/ese/aquel/etc) Past tense conjugations THE BEST WAY TO STUDY: Don’t just read over the vocabulary or grammar rules. Actually come up with sentences about you and/or your friends using the vocabulary and grammar! Make sure to re-watch the videos from this quarter, and to review the vocabulary from the first quarter!
