Speaker: Elisa Bovee, MS OTR/L, Vice President of Operations for Harmony Health Care
International. Elisa has worked in the long term care industry of over 19 years practicing and
providing consulting services related to therapy services and Medicare regulations and
guidelines. Elisa has served as Appeals Coordinator for three years within the Northeast region,
working with facilities to address Medicare denials.
Seminar: “Unlock the Mystery of Appealing Denied Claims In The SNF”.
Objectives: healthcare providers will be able to summarize goals of Medicare Medical Review
and to be able to identify and articulate examples of documentation to support skilled nursing
and rehabilitative care in the SNF. Also will enable healthcare providers to identify strategies
for interdisciplinary management of Medicare appeals.

Speaker: Stacie Boeniger Collier, Esq. a Partner with the Law Firm of Nixon Peabody LLP, 100
Summer Street, Boston, MA. Stacie has had a significant amount of experience performing
training in the workplace on topics such as preventing workplace harassment and
discrimination; and management of medical leave laws. She also litigates employment and labor
matters before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
Seminar: “Preventing Workplace Harassment and Instituting Best HR Practices in your
Nursing Home”.
Objectives: Workplace Harassment Statutes: defining harassment; spotting potential
problems and issues; reporting and investigating concerns; implementing appropriate
policies and procedures; taking corrective action; preventing retaliation; the importance of
strong interpersonal and communications skills; minimizing legal risk, and maximizing
employee morale. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q & A and discussion of numerous
hypotheticals relevant to the nursing home industry.
Nursing Home Administrators need to understand these concepts to minimize legal risk,
TWO HOUR FOCUS ON SEXUAL HARASSMENT TO MEET CT LICENSURE
REQUIREMENT.
Also: Wage and Hour issues of interest to the nursing home industry, including wage
payment; overtime eligibility; calculation of the regular rate; record keeping; meal breaks;
and Department of Labor enforcement activities. Also a focus on Federal Law with
discussion of state peculiarities.
