BOOK DONATIONS

CES SUMMER READING SURVIVAL KIT

Parents, can you help support our Summer Reading plan?

Please help us by donating a few used books that you may have at home. CES will sort these by grade level and send home with students as a Summer

Reading Survival Kit. We will place a tub in the front office and in the Library to make it easy for you to drop your books off.

THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO TO HELP MAKE

CES THE BEST EVER!!!!

KINDERGARTEN NEWS

Students have been working diligently all year toward earning the Principal's Reading Award. The deadline for the additional 15 book reports is May 16 th . We are proud of those who have worked so hard to reach their goals!

This last nine week period is crucial for Kindergarten students as we prepare them for the SAT-10 assessment. Timely arrival and consistent attendance are essential for preparing students to take this standardized test. In addition, students will be tested for the final time on their report card skills. Parents who have any questions or concerns about their child's possible retention should contact their child's teacher to schedule a conference as soon as possible.

Kindergarten will be taking a field trip to Gator Cinema in Gainesville to celebrate the final nine week period.

Please look for upcoming information concerning this outing via your child's teacher.

Please be aware that it is imperative for students to learn to tie their shoes independently. This is still a big issue in our grade level. Please work with your child until they have achieved this important skill.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to promote positive gains for all students!

FIRST GRADE NEWS

Thank You - Thank you to all our wonderful parents who chaperoned our field trip to the Santa Fe Zoo. Without your help, our students would not have enjoyed this wonderful experience. You were instrumental in making a lasting memory!

SAT-10 - During April, we will focus on readying your child for the SAT-10. In class, we will spend time on practice SAT-10 materials. You can also help. Sending your child to school well-rested and on time is essential.

Attendance is highly important. Also, please make sure you review any test prep materials sent home. In order to score high on this important assessment, your child must be able to focus, listen, and follow directions. We appreciate your efforts!

Principal's Reading Award - The deadline for the

Principal's Reading Award is fast approaching. Please be aware that your child needs 25 AR points in order to earn this award. We encourage you to attend the AR

Family Reading Nights provided monthly at our school.

In addition, our media center is open each morning prior to school. Many parents take advantage of this time to assist their child in AR testing. Continue to read books nightly with your child. We can't over emphasize the importance of the early years in your child's education.

Let's work together to lay a strong foundation for future learning success.

SECOND GRADE NEWS

The 2 nd grade classes will be busy during the month of

April preparing for our SAT-10 tests in May. We will be reviewing and practicing the skills we have learned this year, and becoming familiar with test-taking procedures.

Please encourage your child to work hard and be motivated for an exceptional SAT-10 effort.

Also, please continue to read AR books with your child.

The cut-off date for the Principal's Reading Award will be May 16 th and we want every child to have the chance to win this treasured award.

FOURTH GRADE NEWS

Fourth term book reports will be due on May 15 th , and students need to get their books approved by their teachers as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that all work needs to be turned in on or before the due date in order to receive credit. We are working hard to prepare for FCAT, so please make sure that your child is at school on time daily. Also, please continue to study math facts. We have seen a great deal of growth this year and practice makes better! The weather is warming up, but don't forget to set aside at least 20 minutes each evening for uninterrupted reading. Finally, please keep in mind that tennis shoes are the safest option on the playground. As always, thank you for your support!
