JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Sports Enrichment Assistant SECTOR: Sports, Fitness and Public Services GRADE: SC1 DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: College Sports Maker & Sport Team Leader Purpose of Job: This role is to assist and deliver the cross College Sport Enrichment offer to students during term times and is expected to work additional hours to assist in the setup of the sports equipment of the commercial bookings The successful candidate will support the College Sports Maker in a variety of tasks to deliver the college’s student Sport Enrichment Programme. The Sports Enrichment Assistant will make a significant difference to the participation and engagement by young people in sport across Bolton College. Overall role To assist in the monitoring and evaluating of participation rates by completing registers at sessions. To set up and take down sports equipment for enrichment activity To actively deliver a variety of sporting sessions. To deliver sports competitions in enrichment times To set up sports hall equipment for external bookings Main Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Increase the number of FE students involved in intra-sport opportunities. 2. To assist in accurately monitoring, recording and maintaining of the usage/take up figures of the activities. 3. To provide set up and take down of equipment for activities in the facility, with safe storage and maintenance of equipment. 4. Actively deliver a variety of sporting sessions across the college. 5. Advise students on the safe usage of facilities. 6. To deliver internal sports competitions for the students of Bolton College. 7. To work unsupervised at times whilst maintaining high standards. 8. To undertake all necessary training and attend all meetings relevant to the post and grade. 9. Undertake other duties as may be reasonably allocated within the grading level of the post. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS Working Hours Y You will be expected to work 10 hours per week. Your pattern of work will need to be flexible and will therefore vary from time to time but mainly will be: Monday 12-1pm and 4pm-6pm Tuesday 12-1pm Wednesday 12-1pm Thursday 4-6pm Friday 4-5pm In addition to the 8 hours above, it is expected that the post holder will do a minimum of 2 additional hours on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening for set up for sports hall bookings. Training The College wishes to encourage support staff to increase their skills and qualifications, for the benefit of the individual and the College. The post-holder may therefore, at the discretion of management, be required to undertake training and development appropriate to present and future needs of the College. The post holder will need a satisfactory, enhanced CRB clearance for this job All staff will be required to participate in an annual staff development review. Location T The post is located on Dean Road, however, the College is multi-site, and some movement between sites may be necessary from time to time. Probationary Period If the post holder is a new employee to the College, the first nine months of employment will be a probationary period, during which the suitability of the post holder for the position will be assessed. The Corporation reserves the right to extend the probationary period, if, in its opinion, circumstances so require. During the probationary period, the employment may be terminated either by the post holder or by the Corporation on giving written notice of one month. The Corporation’s Disciplinary Procedure will not apply during the probationary period. Appraisal The post holder will be required to participate in a staff appraisal scheme approved by the Corporation.
