MSS-161-13 Ljubljana, 11th November 2013 Call for participants Training on the Quality Assurance Framework for Non-Formal Education (Ljubljana, Slovenia, 14-15 December 2013) Background In 2008 the European Youth Forum initiated the process of developing a framework to implement Quality Assurance in NFE projects/activities of youth organisations. The Policy Paper on Non-Formal Education: A Framework for indicating and assuring quality was adopted this year; and it was further consolidated in the Revised Policy Paper in 2011. Since then, a pilot phase and a series of training cycles have been organised in order to test and further improve the proposed framework within youth organisations, while starting to raise interest and build the capacity of YFJ members to implement the QA process within their NFE projects/activities. In the workplan 2013-2014 the European Youth Forum has reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting the implementation of the QA process by its members and other youth organisations interested. Through the development of the Quality Assurance Framework for NFE, the Forum aims to contribute to enhancing the recognition process of NFE through enhanced accountability and improved communication on the provision of quality education by youth organisations. The overall expected outcome of this process is to establish a Network for Quality Assurance in NFE that contributes to the mentioned aims of this training and to ensuring the right to equal access to quality education. Aims and objectives The aim of this training is to build the capacity of youth organisations in assuring quality of their educational projects through the Quality Assurance Framework for Non-Formal Education (NFE) developed by the European Youth Forum. The objectives of the training are the following: To introduce participants to the Quality Assurance Process developed by the Forum: its rationale, key elements and its contribution to the recognition of NFE and to quality education. To equip participants with the necessary competences to implement the QA framework for NFE through the development of quality indicators and the provision of peer-review and feedback. To develop participants’ competences to share the learning outcomes with their colleagues in their organisations, as well as to promote and support the implementation of the QA framework in future NFE projects/activities. Expected outcomes: By the end of the training, participants will be capable of implementing the Quality Assurance Framework for NFE in their projects. They will also be able to explain how Quality Assurance contributes to quality education and to recognition of NFE in youth organisations.
