The Worry Free Life
Opening Activity: Have each person to tell a time when they worried
about money.
Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love
the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve
both God and Money.
Questions:
If you love money how will you feel toward God?
How can you tell which master you are serving?
Who is more likely to be plagued with worry and stress, a person who’s
mater is money or a person who’s master is God?
Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat
or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than
food, and the body more important than clothes?
Questions:
What does Jesus say not to worry about?
What is more important than food and clothing?
How does worrying about money make money your master?
Matthew 6:26-27 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away
in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable
than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Question:
Why should God’s provision for birds teach us not to worry?
Which is more valuable birds or humans created in the image of God?
Does worrying add to your life or does it take from your life?
Matthew 6:28-30 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the
field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his
splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the
field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much
more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Question:
Why do people worry about clothes so much?
Which is more valuable wild flowers or humans created in the image of God?
Would God clothe wild flowers and not meet the needs of humans made in
His image?
Matthew 6:31-34 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we
drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your
heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not
worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough
trouble of its own.
Questions:
What things do pagans spend all their time running after, seeking and
worrying about?
Rather than worrying and seeking money, what are we to seek first?
What is the kingdom of God today?
If we seek God’s kingdom and righteousness first, what will God give you as
well?
Why should we not worry about tomorrow?
Who is your master God or Money?
REMEMBER: When God is your master you don’t need to worry because God will
supply all your needs.
