Job Vacancy – Logistician
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization which
provides assistance and promotes durable solutions for refugees and internally displaced
people, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights.
Danish Refugee Council is a new humanitarian actor in Tanzania. As part of the Burundian
Refugee Response in Tanzania, DRC will implement in the sectors of camp management,
protection and shelter/ small infrastructure.
In order to fulfill DRCs new operations in Tanzania, we are opening the following position for
a Tanzania national, based in Kibondo.
Under the supervision of the Logistics/Procurement Manager Logistics Officer will work out
of Nduta or Mtendeli Refugee Camps, (with some tasks in Kibondo) to over see day to day
logistics functions.
Roles and responsibilities
 Ensure that the warehouses in Nduta and or Mtendeli camp are operated in an effective and







efficient manner, with timely disbursement of materials as requested;
Support all program activities in logistics related functions, such as delivery of relief items and
NFIs/CRIs.
Support the administration department in preparing inventory lists;
Supervise the Store Keeper and Warehouse assitant in the camp and ensure accountability;
Build procurement and logistics capacity with the Logistics and Procurement Team in area of
operations;
Overall responsibility for the management of the procurement and logistics team in Nduta with
operations, including oversight in distribution activities;
Oversee and adhere to the observance of the DRC Code of Conduct and DRC specific
logistics procedures within the procurement and logistics department;
All general logistics support to the DRC program in Nduta Camp and/or Mtendeli or Kibondo.
Qualifications







Minimum 3 years of logistics and supply chain field experience;
At least 1 year of national experience with INGOs
Excellent communication skills – verbal and in writing.
Fluent in English.
Excellent inter-personal skills and proven ability to negotiate with a wide range of people in a
multi-cultural environment (internally and externally)
Ability to adapt to the complex and stressful working conditions of the area of operations.
Language skills in Kirundi and French considered an advantage.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and conditions in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment for National Staff in
Tanzania and based on UNHCR Tanzania’s salary scale for IP National Staff.
Duration of employment: 3 months with possible extension based on performance and
funding availability.
Location: Nduta or Mtendeli Camp, (Kibondo) Tanzania
